Unit 7　How much are these socks

难点 1. 掌握复数形式出现的衣物单词，如：socks, shorts, shoes, trousers等。在询问这类衣物价格时，be动词也要相应使用复数形式are，回答时须用They're...句式2．分清询问价格的句式How much＋be＋n.？与询问数量的句式How many/much＋n.＋do you want？
1．much　pron.& adj.许多
【点拨】much用来修饰不可数名词，尤其用于否定句或与how连用以询问数量或价格，也可与as, so和too连用，表示“许多；大量”。如：
①I don't have much money with me.
我没带多少钱。
②How much is it？
这个多少钱？
③I have too much homework today.
我今天有太多家庭作业。
【延伸】(1)much还可当副词用，表示“非常；更加；很”。如：
Thank you very much.
非常感谢你。
(2)与much相对应的近义词为many，只不过many 用来修饰可数名词。如：
I have many friends.
我有许多朋友。
(3)many 和much的比较级都为more，表示“更多”。如：
I have more friends than before.
我比以前有更多的朋友。
2．sock　n．短袜
【点拨】sock为可数名词，一般用其复数形式socks，意为“短袜”，且通常情况下用pair of 来修饰。“长筒袜”为stocking，“一双长筒袜”为a pair of stockings。如：
I want to buy a pair of socks.
我想买一双短袜。
【延伸】sock还可表示“猛击；重击(尤指用拳头)”。如：
He gave him a sock on the head.
他朝他头上猛击了一拳。
3．T shirt　n．T恤衫
【点拨】T shirt为可数名词，其复数形式为T shirts，意为“T恤衫”。如：
I usually wear T shirts in summer.
我夏天经常穿T恤衫。
4．shorts　n．(pl.)短裤
【点拨】shorts本身就带有s，没有单数形式，表示“短裤”。如：
The shorts are very nice.
这条短裤很漂亮。
【延伸】在英语中，表示成双成对的或有两部分组成且不能分割的物品，一般只有复数形式，如：shorts(短裤)，pants/trousers(长裤)，glasses(眼镜)等。
【注意】(1)这类名词作主语时，谓语动词一般用复数。如：
How much are the shorts？
这条短裤多少钱？
(2)若要表示“一双；一副；一条”时，可用a pair of，谓语动词用单数。如：
This pair of pants is $50.
这条长裤50美元。
5．sweater　n．毛衣
【点拨】sweater为可数名词，其复数形式为sweaters，意为“毛衣”。如：
This sweater is only ￥65。
这件毛衣才65元人民币。
【延伸】sweater在英国英语当中指套头无扣的毛衣，在美国英语中可指开襟有扣的毛衣。
6．trousers　n．(pl.)裤子
【点拨】trousers只有复数形式，意为“裤子”，要表示“一条裤子”时，用量词a pair of。如：
This pair of trousers is too long.
这条裤子太长了。
7．shoe　n．鞋
【点拨】shoe为可数名词，一般用其复数形式shoes，“一双鞋子”可用a pair of来修饰，但也可以出现单数形式。如：
①This pair of shoes is too big for me.
这双鞋对我而言太大了。
②After swimming, there is only one shoe left.
游泳过后只剩下一只鞋了。
8．skirt　n．裙子
【点拨】skirt为可数名词，其复数形式为skirts，意为“裙子”。如：
Girls like wearing skirts in summer.
女孩们喜欢在夏天穿裙子。
【延伸】skirt还可以表示“(连衣裙、外套等的)下摆”。
【辨析】skirt与dress
skirt是单一的裙子，就只有下半身，dress有点晚装的感觉，也就是连身的裙子。
9．dollar　n．元(美国、加拿大等国的货币单位，符号为$)
【点拨】dollar为可数名词，其复数形式为dollars，意为“美元”。如：
Socks are $3 for a pair.袜子3美元一双。
【延伸】(1)所有的钱数与时间、距离一样，无论多少，在句中作主语时，谓语动词都用单数形式。如：
①6，000 dollars is a lot of money for him.
对他而言，6 000美元是相当多的钱。
②Five days is a long time.
五天是很长的时间。

10．big　adj.大的；大号的
【点拨】big为形容词，意为“大的；大号的”，其反义词为small。如：
The shoes are too big for me.
这鞋对我而言太大了。
【延伸】big还可以指“年龄较大的；重大的；严重的”。如：
①You are a big girl now.
你现在是一个大姑娘了。
②You are making a big mistake.
你正在犯一个严重的错误。
11．small　adj.小的；小号的
【点拨】small为形容词，意为“小的；小号的”，其反义词为big。如：
This house is small.
这间房子很小。
【延伸】small还可以表示“年幼的；不重要的；小写(字母)”。如：
①They have three small children.
他们有三个年幼的孩子。
②We can do the small things around us.
我们可以从身边的小事做起。
12．short　adj.短的；矮的
【点拨】short为形容词，意为“短的；矮的”，其反义词为long或tall。如：
①This pair of trousers is too short for me.
这条裤子对我而言太短了。
②My brother is short.
我弟弟很矮。
【延伸】short还可以表示“不足；短缺”，其用法为be short of sth.(缺少某物)。如：
I am short of money this month.
这个月我缺钱。
13．long　adj.长的
【点拨】long为形容词，意为“长的”，其反义词为short。如：
This ruler is not very long.
这把尺子不是很长。
【延伸】how long既可以问某物有多长，也可以问需要多少时间。如：
①How long is the Yangtze River
长江有多长？
②How long does it take you to go to school
上学花费你多少时间？

【点拨】how much 通常用来询问价格，意为“多少钱”。其句型结构及回答如下：
(1)—How much is＋可数名词单数/不可数名词？

如：

这条裙子多少钱？
—It's 20 dollars.
20美元。
②—How much are these pants
这些长裤多少钱？
—They're 50 dollars.50美元。
【延伸】(1)询问价格还有其他一些句式：What's the price of...？，How much＋do/does＋商品＋cost？。如：
What's the price of this skirt？＝How much does this skirt cost？这条裙子多少钱？
(2)how 是疑问副词，常与一些形容词或副词构成疑问短语。如：
how long 多久；多长　how far多远
how old多少岁 how often多久一次
【辨析】(1)How much are the socks？与How much milk do you want
学生会有一个惯性思维，会认为以how much开头的问句都是询问价钱的，其实不然。how much 后跟上be动词，用以询问价格；但how much＋不可数名词＋一般疑问句，则表示对不可数名词的数量进行提问，意为“多少”。如：
①How much are these trousers
这些裤子多少钱？
②How much orange juice do you want
你要多少橘子汁？
(2)how many 与how much
1)how much 询问价格时，意为“多少钱”，也可以询问不可数名词的数量。
2)how many 用来修饰可数名词，询问可数名词的数量，其句式为： How many＋可数名词复数＋一般疑问句？。如：
How many apples do you want
你想要多少个苹果？
