What is success
Today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of success. What is success It is what everyone is longing for. Sometimes success would be rather simple. Winning a game is success; getting a high grade in the exam is success; making a new friend is success; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also success.
However, as a person’s whole life is concerned, success becomes very complicated. Is fortune success Is fame success Is high social status success No, I don‘t think so. I believe success is the realization of people’s hopes and ideals. Nowadays, in the modern society there are many people who are regarded as the successful, and the most obvious features of them are money, high position and luxurious life.
什么是成功？
今天我很高兴能在这里与大家分享我对成功的看法。什么是成功？这是每个人都渴望的。有时成功会很简单。赢得比赛就是成功；在考试中取得高分就是成功；结交新朋友是成功；即使现在我站在这里发表我的演讲在某种程度上也是成功。
然而，就一个人的一生而言，成功是非常复杂的。获得财富就是成功吗？功成名就是成功吗？地位显赫就是成功吗？不，我不这么认为。我认为成功是人们能够实现自己的希望和理想。当前，现代社会中有很多人被认为是成功者。他们最明显的特点就是有钱、地位高、生活奢靡。
So most people believe that success and all that they do is for this purpose. However, the problem is whether it is real success. We all know there are always more money, higher position and better condition in front of us. If we keep chasing them, where is the end What will satisfy us at last Therefore, we can see, to get the real success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people’s hopes and ideals.
Different people have different ideas about success; cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another. But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come , cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patience, courage and sense of responsibility.
These are the best treasures.So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you. It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.

What is success Everyone has his own interpretation as I do. but I am sure every success leads to an ever-brighter future. So everyone, believe in our hopes, believe in ourselves, we, every one of us, can make a successful life!

Does everybody dream a good dream last night Actually, today I want to talk about dream with you. Of course, What I want to talk is not a dream you have last night, but a dream—— about life.
Everyone has dreams about life, different dreams at different life stage,and we need dreams to support us. Dreams are like the stars we never reach in the sky,but like most mariners, we can chart our course by them. With the dream,we have a direction, with a direction, we were no longer confused. Young! Fortunately, I am young now. Just due to it, I know that nothing is impossible. I firmly believe that nothing can stand in my way. If I can't realize my dream, it results from that I haven't work harder enough. If no people believe you, you can make it to prove that you are right. If you think the god haven't blessed you and there is no truth here, you can become the god and create the truth.
To some extent, the dream is the hope. If you can keep on doing something, the victory will come.Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that can never fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen only with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams. Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today. Let’s take actions!

What I have lived for
Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a deep ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.
I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy--ecstasy so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest life for a few hours of this joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieves loneliness--that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over the rim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it, finally, because in the union of love I have seen, in a mystic miniature, the prefiguring vision of the heaven that saints and poets have imagined. This is what I sought, and thought it might seem too good for human life, this is what I have found at last.
我为什么活着
对爱的渴望、对知识的追求和对人类苦难难以承受的怜悯之心——这三种简单却极其强烈的情感主宰着我的生活。这些情感似阵阵飓风，任意地把我吹得飘来荡去，穿过痛苦的海洋，抵达绝望的彼岸。

With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of men. I have wished to know why the stars shine. And I have tried to apprehend the Pythagorean power by which number holds away above the flux. A little of this, but not much I have achieved.
Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth. Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart. Children in famine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a hated burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.
This has been my life. I have found it worth living and I would gladly live it again if the chance were offered me.
带着同样的激情，我曾追求过知识。我曾希望了解人类的心灵，我曾想知道星辰为何发光，我曾试图理解毕达格拉斯的力量，通过他的力量，数驾驭了万物的变化。我获得了一点知识，但并不多。

Harmony
If you ask a Chinese friend of yours to make a list of their favourite Chinese characters that can best represent Chinese culture.I’m sure that there would be this one characters，even among TOP5 I guess. It’s “和” in Chinese and it represents harmony in English. So it’s not surprising if you see expressions like “a peaceful family will prosper”, which is a widespread and famous saying in China framed and hung on the wall of a family. Not only as a decoration, but also as a family. In fact, the word harmony is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese culture and it can even be traced back to ancient times. Think about heaven-and-man harmony, heaven is nature and man is an integral part of it. And the relationship between heaven and man should be harmonious coexistent and one. People in ancient China have already realized the only way for us to survive is to live in harmony with environment. That’s why they had rituals to worship the gods for food and for good weather.

如果你问你的中国朋友列出他们最喜欢，最能化表中国文化的汉字，我敢肯定会有这个汉字，我猜它甚至能排进前五名，就是“和”这个汉字。它代表英文中的 “和睦”，所以你不会惊讶，当你看到“家和万事兴”这句话。这个在中国广为流传的名言，装裱挂在家里的墙上，不仅作为装饰品，也作为一种家庭信仰。事实上“和” 这个字，深根于中国传统文化,它的历史甚至可以追溯到古代，比如“天人合一”，天是自然,人是自然不可分割的一部分，而天人之间的关系,应该是和谐共存的,同时代的,一体的中国古代的人们已经认识到我们生存的唯是要与环境和谐相处,这就是为什么他们有察祀神灵的仪式,祈祷风调雨顺,五谷丰登。
That’s why all our Chinese gardens are also designed in a way that imitates the environment in some way in our families and private houses. To conform to the nature, without breaking the delicate balance of the harmony. Starting from this basic idea.We have designed our cultural pursuit------harmony.
To be more specific,it is the harmony between people families and nations. In a word, we believe that all relationships should be harmonious and in our pursuit of the relationships,we value peace and harmony and we value the idea that harmony produces wealth. So in general, we tend to be kind, polite and honest to friends to maintain harmonious social relationships.Then what about our relationships with foreign countries as a whole The same principle still is being implemented.We have had long the foreign policy of seeking common ground while reserving differences. 2000 years ago, Confucius put forward the idea of unity but not uniformity. In 1954, late premier Chou En-lai formulated the five principles of peaceful coexistence.
这就是我们的中国园林,在一定程度上,依照自然环境和当地住宅而建,去顺应自然,在不破坏和谐的平衡情况下。从人这个基本理念出发,我们设计了我们的文化追求-----和谐。

And even nowadays Chinese government has pledged to take a path of peaceful development facing this challenging and complex world. So it can see, harmony is the core value that influence the psyche,thinking pattern and behavior of Chinese people.It advocates coexistence, cooperation,peace. And this is more important in today’s world,because it stresses a comprehensive view of solving problems.So according to this value,the ideal goal of ours to build a word of universal harmony. The harmony is also a means to get the goal. And this is how our traditional Chinese culture contributes to the world.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! My name is Danny. I am very honored to stand here and give you a short speech!The title of my speech is Keep your own pace.
At presents, with the rapid development of the times, many people are in anxiety whether they are children, parents or students and so on.For example, I often feel slower than others.I always feel I can't catch up with others, so I fall into anxiety disorder.Because of this, I think many people may have the same problem as me.Now,I want to ask a question and invite a few guests to answer.Have you ever encountered such a dilemma？From this point of view,my ideal is correct.So I will talk about it today.
I know people who graduated at 21 and didn't get a job until they were 27and know people who graduated late at 25 and they found work immediately. I know people who never went to university but found what they love at 18. I know people who found a job straight out of college making decent money,but hate what they do.

So my point is everything in life happens according to our time, our clock .You may look at some of your friends and think that they are ahead of you, maybe some of them you feel are behind, but everything happens at their own pace.They have their own time and clock and so do you. Be patient!

The world is a chessboard, on which we play a game that was never supposed to be fair but still excites us with its numerous possibilities.When I was 16, my dad recommended that I should sign up for a chess club and learn how to play. So I went, and my level was good enough to play against a bunch of 10-year-olds. What's even more humiliating was that I actually had a hard time playing against them. So reasonably, I became skeptical of the game and thought that it was unfair.You know on the chessboard there's a king, a queen, rooks, bishops, knights, and pawns, different pieces with different status and importance possessing different capabilities. They stand in their strictly drawn little squares and line up accordingly to their value. And let's face it. It's the same in real life.
Some of us matter, while some of us don't, at least not that much.Among the very first lines of “the Declaration Of Independence”, this one goes: “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.” What a beautiful line, but how can we convince ourselves that we are born equal while our ancestors didn't die equal

I hate to say this, but we do inherit most of the social capitals that get to decide what kind of a role we start with when we come to this world. However, the game still gets played for a reason. The board of 64 little squares is magically enough to create a stage for wonderful things to happen.
And in a game between two equal players there will be around 50 moves in total and just think about many moves we take in lifetime. I'll say countless. And no one is able to predict what's going to happen next, which, I think, is the true beauty of our world.
The world is not fair, but it doesn't make it any less worthy of living. So go play with what you have carefully but boldly at the same time to unleash the unknown possibilities of life or change the game.

Good morning ! If you ask a Chinese friend of yours to make a list of their favourite Chinese characters that can best represent Chinese culture , I am sure that there would be this one character even among the TOP5, I guess. My name is Kenny. I feel so happy to have the chance to make a speech. The title of my speech is Protect the Environment, Protect Ourselves. I hope you will like it.
Everybody knows waste paper and used coke cans are discarded everywhere. You might have seen plastic bags flying in the sky and getting caught in the trees when the wind blows or maybe you have seen old cans floating in the rivers and polluting the water. Our environment is the place in which we live, but it is being ruined by us.
There is a story about house and trees. It is said that a man’s house was surrounded by a lot of trees. Though the wind was strong, that man could have a good rest under the trees.

How comfortable the life was! One day, that man wanted to enlarge his house, so he cut down all the trees. Then the autumn came without the protection. The strong wind blew the roof of the house into the sky. The whole house was gone with the wind. What a pity! But that’s the price people have to pay for destroying in the ecology balance. People shouldn’t be short-sighted. Protecting the environment is everyone’s task.
As you know, there are four kinds of pollution. They are air pollution, water pollution, waste pollution and noise pollution. But what can we do to solve the pollution I think, firstly, we can make cars that don’t pollute the environment. We can ask companies to use modern clean technology. In some big cities, we can limit the number of cars.

I started practicing and rehearsing once again, paying special attention to those little things that I used to ignore. as a consequence,my overall performance was quickly elevated to a new high!without much trouble, in another singing contest held months later, I won!
what do I learn from this experience never give up lightly! life's full of opportunities, and lots of them! to realize your dreams and fulfill your potential, you must learn to work hard and smart and steer your lifeboat wisely!

No. 10 Appetite
One of the major pleasures in life is appetite, and one of our major duties should be to preserve it. Appetite is the keenness of living; it is one of the senses that tells you that you are still curious to exist, that you still have an edge on your longings and want to bite into the world and taste its multitudinous flavors and juices.
By appetite, of course, I don’t mean just the lust for food, but any condition of unsatisfied desire, any burning in the blood that proves you want more than you’ve got, and that you haven’t yet used up your life. Wilde said he felt sorry for those who never got their heart’s desire, but sorrier still for those who did.
Appetite, to me, is that state of wanting, which keeps one’s expectations alive, in wanting a peach, or a whisky, or a particular texture or sound, or to be with a particular friend.For in this condition, of course, I know that the object of desire is always at its most flawless perfect, which is why I would carry the preservation of appetite to the extent of deliberate fasting, simply because I think that appetite is too good to lose, too precious to be bludgeoned into insensibility by satiation and over-doing it.

在我心里，欲即“向往进行时”——无时无刻不充满期待。一只蜜桃，一盏浊酒，一匹好布，一曲销魂，一友相伴，此等种种，向往更是极乐。因我深知：向往之时，心中之人、之物总是处于完美无瑕的最高境界。正是因为此等向往，我甚至可以不吃不喝，以存食欲。只因欲之极乐，唯恐失去；欲之不易，唯恐纵欲饱食而失其敏锐。
Fasting is an act of homage to the majesty of appetite. So I think we should arrange to give up our pleasure regularly--our food, our lovers--in order to preserve their intensity, and the moment of coming back to them. For this is the moment that renews and refreshes both oneself and the thing one loves. Sailors and travelers enjoyed this once, and so did hunters, I suppose. Part of the weariness of modern life may be that we live too much on top of each other, and are entertained and fed too regularly.
Too much of anything--too much music, entertainment, happy snacks, or time spent with one’s friends--creates a kind of impotence of living by which one can no longer hear, or taste, or see, or love, or remember. Life is short and precious, and appetite is one of its guardians, and loss of appetite is a sort of death. So if we are to enjoy this short life we should respect the divinity of appetite, and keep it eager and not too much blunted.

By the way, I’d like to share some ways of learning English. First, it’s important to follow the teacher carefully in class. I usually hold a pen in my hand so that I can take notes as quickly as possible, which helps me focus on learning. Next, try to remember English words effectively.
I connect the sound, an image or picture of a new word in order to keep it in mind. Meanwhile, I think of relationships between what I already know and new knowledge I learn in English. Using rhymes is also a great method. Last but not least, develop your interest in English. As the saying goes, Interest is the best teacher.
