From Marrakech to Cape Town, Africa has so much to offer. From culture hotspots to natural sights, it can be difficult to decide. Here are some top destinations to recommend.
Kruger National Park
Bursting with diverse wildlife in large numbers, Kruger is considered South Africa’s best park for a reason. In addition to the awesome amount of nature on display, the facilities are also fantastic, with great hotels and camps to suit all kinds of budgets. Kruger is also heaven for birdwatching, so there’s something to excite everyone.
Victoria Falls
Next, we’ve got one of the wonders of the natural world. The colossal Victoria Falls sits on the Zambia and Zimbabwe border. As November marks the start of the rainy season, it’s the perfect time to visit, as the falls will be at their most dramatic! Book onto one of Tripbeat’s Victoria Falls multi-day camping adventures to explore the amazing landscape and animals.
Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is another fantastic choice for safari. Instead of jeeps, boats are the best way to get around this watery wilderness, and perfect for getting close to hippos and crocodiles. Botswana is also a great place to explore African cuisine, with delicious dishes like Vetkoek, a type of burger normally served with curry, thyme, and chilli sauce.
Cape Town
Our last recommendation is one of three capitals. Relax at the Victoria and Alfred waterside area where you can visit the Museum of Contemporary African Art, try local dishes at the food market or join a walking tour to discover more about the area’s history that dates to the 17th century.
So whether you want to take a walk on the wild side or want to dive into a city’s culture (or both!), book your African adventure here in just a few simple clicks.

Before arriving in China, I had read various books relating to China, famous Chinese novels as well as non-fiction and the seeds of my fascination were sown. Therefore, when I arrived I couldn’t have been more excited to be living in this huge historically and culturally rich country. The food, the landmarks, the fantastic cities and everyday life—I was burning to explore.
Yet despite my enthusiasm, learning Chinese hadn’t even entered my mind. This wasn’t ignorance or laziness, but rather fright at the thought of attempting to learn what is regarded as the most difficult language in the world. In my mind, the Chinese language was the privilege of the highly intelligent.
However, after a year in China I began to feel uncomfortable with how many Chinese people could speak English and yet I couldn’t even speak the most basic Chinese. With these factors in mind and a thirst for a new challenge I determined to begin my language journey.
In the two years since starting to learn I have made measurable progress. I found it less difficult than thought. When speaking to native Chinese speakers in Chinese they almost always understand me, I have also not found it too difficult to remember characters and I am now even able to write over 400 characters. I find studying the language relaxing and rewarding.
In spite of my progress, it has still been the challenge that has taken a lot of hard work and commitment. The thing I find most discouraging is listening since native speakers talk at such a speed, I can’t always understand what’s been said, but my weekly online language exchanges help with this. Furthermore, there is a long way to go before I reach my goal of fluency. The key to progress is to be patient and persistent.
My biggest harvest from learning Chinese is that it’s not only reachable but can also be enjoyable. Learning Chinese not only helped me in day-to-day life, but deepened my cultural understanding of such a diverse and interesting country. Now my only regret is that I didn’t start earlier.
24. Which can best describe the author’s original impression about learning Chinese

A.Importance of learning Chinese.
B.Barriers of learning a new language.
C.Significant progress the author has made.
D.Certain difficulties the author met in learning Chinese.
27. What is the main idea of the text
A.A new opinion in learning.

Telemedicine is the name for when doctors give advice to patients by telephone or the Internet,or when health care providers in rural areas connect with specialists in big cities. Telemedicine has existed for a long time, but the rise of smartphone, tablets and webcam-equipped computers is raising telemedicine to new levels. Some health care systems in the United States now offer Virtual Urgent Care,so patients can see a doctor by video chat without having to leave home.
Diana Rae recently showed how Virtual Urgent Care works. She used an iPad tablet and Skype - the video chat service. Doctor Green first has the patient describe her symptoms(症状).Then the doctor performs a physical exam by showing what he wants her to do. Doctor Green decides that the problem is an infection(感染)and gives her some medicine. He says about 3 out of 4 patients who have health problems can be treated like this - through Virtual Urgent Care, which means a video chat could substitute a visit to the doctor's office.
The Franciscan Health System charges $35 for this kind of virtual house call. That is much less than the cost of going to an emergency room,a doctor's office or an urgent care clinic. After trying the video conference,Diana Rae says she would be happy to pay the 35 dollars, when she was recently home with a bad cold. "I would have paid twice that for the convenience of getting taken care of without having to sit in a waiting room, wait, and get exposed to everyone else's germs(细菌). " Rae said.
But a company official says state rules have not kept progress with development in telemedicine. The workers who provide Virtual Urgent Care must be licensed separately in each state where the company does business. For now, that means Franciscan doctors can treat patients in Washington state and California, for example, but not in neighboring Oregon or Idaho.
28. What is the purpose of paragraph 1? ______
A. To persuade people to use telemedicine.
B. To claim the benefits of health care systems.
C. To make a general introduction of telemedicine.
D. To give a brief description of health care systems.
29. What does the underlined word "substitute" in paragraph 2 mean? ______
A. Organize. B. Replace.
C. Arrange. D. Postpone.
30. What does Diana Rae think of Virtual Urgent Care? ______
A. Convenient and safe. B. Flexible and sufficient.
C. Time-saving but dangerous. D. Advanced but expensive.
31. Why can't Virtual Urgent Care develop fast now? ______
A. People don't have enough access to the health care system.
B. The state rules have prevented it from developing fast.
C. Some states are in badly need of Franciscan doctors.
D. The workers are not permitted to get licenses.
D
Science experiments don’t always go as planned, but that doesn't mean you can't learn from them.
Recently Australian scientists learned something unexpected about magpies (喜鹊) when they tried to attach trackers (追踪器) to them to learn more about their habits. The birds the scientists hoped to study were Australian magpies. They are known to be highly intelligent and social. They live in groups of up to 12 birds and work together to defend the area, flying towards unsuspecting passers-by with their loud, aggressive call.
The researchers were eager to try a new tracker on the magpies. They hoped to learn more about how far the birds flew and what they did during a normal day. It’s hard to find trackers that work well with small and medium-sized birds. Either the trackers are too heavy, or don’t last long enough. The new trackers are light and can be recharged without wires while they are still on the birds. One of the trackers they attached to five magpies weighs less than one gram.
To keep the trackers on the birds without causing flying problems, the researchers developed a special harness (系带). It was tough, so it wouldn’t come off by accident. The researchers placed trackers on five magpies using their special harnesses. But just ten minutes after setting up the last magpie, they noticed something unusual: an adult female magpie was helping another magpie get free from its harness. A few hours later, most of the other magpies were also freed from their harnesses. By the third day, none of the birds had trackers anymore. The scientists were disappointed about the trackers, but they realized that the magpies had taught them something else: magpies are able and willing to help each other out, even if the bird who is helping doesn't get a reward. This is called “rescue behavior”, and it’s not that common in the animal world, especially among birds. The researchers think this is the first time rescue behavior has been reported for Australian magpies. They are glad to learn about the rescue behavior of magpies. But now they need to try again to figure out a good way to track these clever birds.
32. What can be known about the behavior of Australian magpies
A. They tend to live in groups.
B. They like tracking other small birds
C. They often attack people for no reason.
D. They’re less likely to defend their own land.
33. What’s special about the new tracker
A. It weighs about two grams. B. It can be wirelessly recharged.
C. It is suitable for large-sized birds. D. It can be attached to the magpies’ wings.
34. What happened to the magpies when the trackers were attached to them
A. They couldn't fly as normal.
B. They were warned by other magpies.
C. They helped each other to remove the trackers.
D. They were driven out of their home by other adult magpies.
35. What can we learn about the rescue behavior
A. It means that the birds are behaving similarly.
B. It disappointed the researchers very much.
C. It happens only among birds.
D. It’s rare for the birds to do it.
