Mr. Zhou, who had booked a hotel in Zibo at the price of 1,341 yuan per night before May Day, was later told by the hotel that he only needed to pay 735 yuan because of the local government’s rule. “This is a rare experience, the local government of Zibo has done a great job for us tourists.”
Along with the crowded barbecue restaurants in Zibo, Badaju Market, a market for local snacks, has become a must-visit in the city. It used to be open only in the morning but the long lines of tourists kept it open almost 24 hours each day of the holiday.
The popularity of Zibo also showed another travel trend—pleasing the taste buds. A survey carried out by the People’s Daily showed that has become a major consideration in choosing travel cities for 40 percent of tourists.
Among the most popular cities during the holiday, quite a few won visitors over with their local foods. Liuzhou in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, hometown of luosifen, a dish of rice noodles served in a soup with pickled vegetables and other special things, and Taizhou in Zhejiang Province, famous for its cheap and fresh seafood, were both good examples.
Xu Yue, a 24-year-old tourist from Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, said she chose Chongqing for its hotpot, spicy noodles and, most importantly, its street food. The providers of such street food carry a pole with two baskets hung from each end. Each day and night, they only make enough food to fill the baskets before hitting the streets. Some providers have fixed placed where they sell their snacks, others move around. “You can only catch them by luck,” Xu told Beijing Review. “Some providers have become famous among Chinese foodies and there are often long lines waiting for them at their usual spots.”

They grew up on a farm and believed that responsibility, hard work, and respect for the land were valuable lessons.
“So have you ever ridden a horse Aunt Letty asked, trying to turn his attention away from his phone.
“Hmm, no.” he answered.
“Well we’ve got a nice calm horse I think you’ll like. Hercules-sounds like a beast, but he’s a gentle giant-big, but kindhearted! And you will enjoy the work here.” she said, smiling.
Eduardo looked quickly at his aunt, feeling unhappy that he was expected to work. He tried to send a text message to a friend but failed.
The next few days were busy. The crow of the roosters woke them up, and they had breakfast before sunrise. Then they went out to the barn to feed the animals. The afternoons were filled with farm work, such as cleanup and caring for the animals. At dark when the farm was finally quiet, Aunt Letty spread her arms out and said. “Just take a deep breath of that sweet country air!” Eduardo, was too tired to enjoy it.

Born in the 2000s, what do you think of your generation Young, creative, connected, global, smart, maybe good-looking But what do other people think about your generation
Some adults worry that you’re more interested in the phone than the world around you. They see you as the “face-down generation” and wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family. Are today’s teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies (自拍) to become successful in real life or “IRL”, as you would say
Other adults worry that today’s youth are spoiled and don’t want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by “helicopter parents” who were always there to do everything for them. So today’s young people seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.
Does the face-down generation need a heads-up Well, probably not. The fact is that many of today’s teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They also seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people volunteer to serve their communities than ever. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls’ rights to go to school.
So if you are one of them born in the 2000s, there’s reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face-down generation.
42. How did the writer lead the readers to the passage
A. By asking questions. B. By showing his ideas.
C. By describing the situation. D. By giving the reason.
43. Why are young people born in the 2000s called “face-down generation”
A. Because they are always busy with homework with their heads down.
B. Because they are not closely connected to the people around them.
C. Because they show great interest in the phone and use it too much.
D. Because they are not confident and feel shamed with themselves.
44. In the writer’s eyes, today’s teenagers _________.
A. are not creative because of the educational problem
B. are willing to take part in many social activities
C. are smarter and more good-looking than their parents
D. are more successful and creative than their parents
45. What is the main idea of the passage
A. Parents should care more about their teenagers’ life and study.
B. Mobile phones are harmful to teenagers’ growth and development.
C. Teenagers don’t need to change themselves to meet adults’ standards.
D. Though the young people have some problems, their future is full of hope.

“I’m sorry I was angry with you,” she said. “I know you don’t really understand. We’re poor, but we hav enough money for food. You must never ever again ask anyone to give you things.”
The next day was Roberta’s birthday. Mother told her to go away and stay away until teatime.
She felt very lonely in the garden, so she walked out of it and down the lane to the canal. While Roberta was standing on the bridge looking down at the barges(驳船), the doctor came up in his small horse and cart. “Hello, head nurse,” he said. “Do you want a ride home ” Roberta got into the cart and sat next to the doctor.
Roberta let the doctor go on to his house and she stayed in the garden until teatime.
When she went inside, there were twelve candles on the table, flowers, and some little parcels. As she walked into the room, Mother, Phyllis, and Peter sang a song to her.
Mother wrote the words for a birthday song every year.
Our darling Robert
No sorrow shall hurt her
