Listed here are four of the thousands of
impressive museums around the world.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in
Bilbao, Spain
Built in 1997, the Guggenheim
Museum Bilbao is one of the newest in the world. It has transformed the
industrial city of Bilbao into a travelers' desired destination. The beautiful
architecture of the museum has provided a dramatic background for movies and
commercials.
The Louvre in Paris, France
Probably the most famous Louvre
also holds the most famous painting in the world, the "Mona Lisa" by
Leonardo da Vinci. Crowds can be found any day surrounding the small, but
mysterious painting of the smiling woman. But, the Louvre is much more than a
home to the "Mona Lisa". The Louvre is visited by more people each
year than any other museum in the world.
The Barnes Foundation in
Philadelphia, America
Just opened in its new downtown
location in 2012, the Barnes Foundation is "unique" in that it is a
completely reproduced display from one man's private collection. Dr. Albert C.
Barnes started collecting art in the early 20th century and collected, among
others, the largest number of original Renoir paintings in the world.
The Uffizi Gallery in Florence,
Italy
Walking on the marbled floors
feels like stepping back in time. The building itself is a beautiful palace—like
structure with frescoes(湿壁画) decorating the ceilings
and walls. Viewers are bowled over(印象深刻) by the works

Mom wanted only one thing for her birthday.
"Can you find me another copy of this song " she asked, and handed me
a worn-out cassette tape. I knew exactly what was recorded on it: My Redeemer.
I heard the song played at least a thousand times while growing up. After so many
years, the cassette tape was too worn out to be used. I promised her I would
find a replacement.
My Redeemer became Mom's
favorite song after my younger brother Tim was killed by a drunk driver in
1973. The only thing that helped her calm down was the soulful sound of My
Redeemer from the local radio station. We recorded it on a cassette tape so she
could listen to it any time she wanted but none of us knew who the soloist(独唱者) was.
These days, I thought the song would be easy to find out. I went home and
searched the Internet. Several songs with that title popped up, but none of
them was the one Mom loved. I got frustrated.
Mom's birthday drew near and
then one day, I was driving home, listening to our local radio station. A
familiar tune came on. It was My Redeemer! As soon as I could, I phoned the
station. I got a line on the soloist, who was called Alan Parks. I typed
his name into Google and found his home number in South Carolina. Minutes
later, I was telling him how much his recording meant to Mom. He offered to
ship two CDs out to me personally. I gave him my address. "Red Lion,
Pennsylvania "he said. "Do you know the Logans ""They are
our neighbors!""I've been friends with them for 25years," Alan
said. "They'll be at my concert at York Gospel Chapel on April 17th. Would
you and your mom come too " We sure would. Mom was excited to hear Alan
sing My Redeemer to her, live in concert-on the evening of her 87th birthday.
(1)Why was the song My Redeemer so important to the author's mother
A.It reminded her of the love from her husband.
B.It could comfort her sad and painful mood.
C.It was given to her by a very important friend.
D.It was the only thing that the author's brother left her.
(2)What does the underlined part "got a line on" in Paragraph 3mean
A.Talked happily with. B.Thought a lot about.
C.Made request of. D.Got information about.
(3)What can we learn about Alan Parks from this passage
A.He lived in Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
B.He is a kind and warm-hearted musician.
C.He offered to give the author two cassette tapes.
D.He would sing for the author's mom on the radio station.
(4)Which of the following is most surprising
A.Alan Parks and the author lived in the same neighborhood.
B.Alan Parks happened to get to know the author's mother.
C.The author's mother became good friends with Alan Parks.
D.The author's mother went to the concert on her birthday.
3.(2018高三上·贵阳期末)阅读理解
Nov. 21 is World Hello Day. It began back in the 1970s as part of an effort to make the world more peaceful. It was created by the United Nations just after the war between Israel and Egypt in 1973. The philosophy (理念) behind it is: Say “Hello” and stop war.
It sounds like a fine idea, but most of us know that simply saying “Hello” won't bring about world peace. Still, on a smaller range, the simple act of saying hello to someone can make a lot of difference.
This might not be obvious. After all, it's such a casual thing and requires so little effort. You raise your head to someone as you pass by them in the school corridor (走廊), say “Hello' then it's over.
Although we might not realize it, a small thing like a greeting can mean a lot to a person. Many people are lonely because they're shy. They find it difficult to communicate with people, even though they want lo. It leads to them feeling cut off.
On this basis, maybe it's a good idea, not just on Nov. 21, but every day, to remember to say “Hello” to as many people as we can. The stranger who hears your greeting may secretly smile in their heart. You might even make their day.
Greeting other people is the easiest way to be polite. Politeness is the way we individual humans link up with the rest of the human world outside of our circles of family and friends. Politeness is one of the aspects of culture that make us a society rather than just many individuals living in the same space.
No one said it better than the French author Joseph Joubert: “Politeness is the flower of humanity''. A “Hello” to a stranger is a small thing, and often neglected (忽视), but through it we can make the world better for another person.
(1)What is World Hello Day intended for
A.Philosophy. B.Peace. C.Politeness. D.War.
(2)What has an effect on people most
A.Raising heads to others. B.Doing something casually.
C.Meeting in the school corridor, D.The simple act of saying hello.
(3)Why does someone feel lonely
A.They are unwilling to communicate with others.
B.They are too shy to communicate with others.
C.They are very fond of living alone.
D.They don't like doing things as others do.
(4)What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.We should neglect a small thing.
B.Saying hello lo others is powerful.
C.The flowers make the world better.
D.No one is better than Joseph Joubert.

Do you ever pull your phone out of your
pocket, thinking it is vibrating(振动), only to find that it isn't This
phenomenon, which scientists call "phantom(幻觉的)phone
vibration", is very common. Around 80% of people surveyed say they have
imagined their phones vibrating when they were actually still.
So, what leads to this
universal behavior According to the BBC, the explanation lies in your brain s
ability to discover signals from the outside world. When your phone is in your
pocket, there are two possible states: it is either vibrating or not.
Meanwhile, you also have two possible states of mind: the judgment that the
phone is vibrating, or that it isn't. Ideally, you match the four states
correctly.
However, sometimes your brain decides that the results of missing a call are more serious than a "false alarm". Therefore, you become more sensitive(敏感的) to vibrations so that you don't miss anything. This is just like the fire alarm in your home—it can be annoying when it goes off in response to just a tiny bit of smoke. But that's a small price to pay compared to a fire really breaking out because the alarm fails to alert you. Now, you might still ask: why can't our brains just make every judgment correctly without being too sensitive to false signals The answer is that your brain bears a heavy burden every day. "You get a large amount of sensory(感觉的) information that's coming from your eyes, ears and skin, and you can't deal with all that information all the time, "Michael Rothberg, a researcher at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, US, told Live Science.
For example, the rustling(沙沙声)of
clothing or the growling(咕咕声)of your stomach may both
lead your brain to believe that they come from the vibration of your phone-it
is like trying to hear your name being called in a noisy room.
So, perhaps you should just
check your phone whenever you think it's vibrating. It's not too much trouble
to do that, is it
(1)According to this passage, phantom phone vibration .
A.is common among people with mental problems
B.can measure people s ability to collect information
C.happens when our brains react sensitively to false signals
D.helps our brains to make very quick and accurate decisions
(2)Why is the fire alarm used as an example in this passage
A.To show us the fire alarm is as sensitive as the phone vibration.
B.To help us understand the cause of phantom phone vibration better.
C.To tell us the phone vibration usually happens when a fire breaks out.
D.To convince us it's important to check our phones like checking a fire alarm.
(3)According to Michael Rothberg, which is mainly responsible for phantom phone vibration
A.A noisy background. B.A lack of much attention.
C.A heavy burden every day. D.An overflow of sensory information.
(4)What does the author suggest we do about phantom phone vibration
A.We should always fully believe our own sense of listening.
B.We should just check our phones whenever we think they re vibrating.
C.We should ignore the vibration bothering when our phones are actually still.
D.We should think of the vibration carefully before we make correct judgments.
二、任务型阅读(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
5.(2019高二上·黑龙江月考)根据短文,从选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
Do you ever feel like you've
got a great idea, one that makes you feel unbelievably inspired and want to
change the world We've all been there. And we'll all be there
again and again throughout life. So take a deep breath, and try these
techniques:
Start small.
So often, we feel the need to
take great leaps and bounds. Every day needs to be filled with productivity.
But we reach a point where we get overwhelmed(不知所措的) by all the things we
have to do. Break it down. Take a baby step. Once you get going, it will
be harder to stop.
Do the thing you're afraid of.
Often when we get overwhelmed,
it's because the task ahead is daunting(吓人的). There's no easy way around
it. The more we think about it, the more frightened we feel. Most of the time, things are never as bad as
we imagined them in our minds.

The biggest misunderstanding is
that we have to do everything on our own. But that's simply not true. Success
never comes without support. So reach out. Call a friend. Ask for advice. Your
community will be more than happy to help, and you'll feel better.
The harder you work for something you believe
in, the better you will feel about it. And once you learn how to handle hitting
a brick wall, it will get easier to deal with the next time around.
A. Ask for help.
B. Don't give up.
C. No one wants to live with regrets.
D. No one can do everything all at once.
E. So stop thinking about it, and just do it.
F. But once you start working on your idea, you start doubting yourself.
G. Remember that if it's not easy, it probably means it's worth it.

This summer, I attended a
journalism themed summer camp, where I learn a lot.
What impressed me most was the
interviews carrying out in the streets. In the beginning, I wasn't used to talk
to strangers. But with my teammates encouragement, I was able to communicate
smooth with them. Then we were noticed most of the answers we got were brief.
After a discussion, my teammates and I realized that was why our questions
weren't open ended enough. So we changed their questions and our interviewees
were more willing to share with us their ideas in end.
From this experience I've
gained several skill for interviewing people as a journalist.

4.(2019高二上·黑龙江月考)阅读理解

From this experience I've
gained several skill for interviewing people as a journalist.
