For example, instead of having proper conversations with their friends, some people are only concerned with their online popularity—How many “likes” did I get How many followers do I have —though we know that the number of “likes” or followers cannot compare to having long-term and rewarding friendships.

表语从句位于主句中的系动词之后。what引导表语从句时，在表语从句中可充当主语、宾语或表语等。从句用陈述语序。

首先，互联网使交流更加便捷。无论你在哪里，在做什么，都可以和朋友保持联系。通过使用智能手机、平板电脑或电脑，无论你在家里还是在外面都能与他人联络。
or连接的两个让步状语从句， what 前省略了no matter.
"no matter+特殊疑问词"引导的让步状语从句
(1)no matter与what/who/which/when/where/how等特殊疑问词连用，引导让步状语从句，意为"无论……，不管…"。其中no matter how引导让步状语从句时后面紧跟形容词或副词，然后再接从句中的其他成分，句子的语序为：no matter how+adj./adv.+主语+谓语部分。
