教学重难点 Teaching focus ●Students practise reading skills as well getting the information about country music, and they are guided to think deeply about why country can change Sarah and become popular. Teaching difficulty Students might find it difficult to make a summary of the whole passage.

教学步骤 教学活动 活动目的
Pre-reading ●Students read the title and the topic picture. And then they have a free talk and predict what the passage is mainly about. To Elicit the topic of a girl and country music. And interest students and make them wonder what country music is and why it can change a person’s life.
Fast reading: scan and match ● Students look through the whole passage quickly and match the main ideas. P1:Sarah’s change P2:Country music P3:Sarah’s dream To help students get the general ideas of the article. Meanwhile remind students that the topic sentence is often the first or the last one of a paragraph.
Careful reading(1) ●Students enjoy the song Country Road, take me home to get some impressions about country music. ●Students read para2 and finish the fact sheet about country music. To let students feel by a song and get the information by finding key words.
Careful ●Students read para1 and find out: To encourage students to
reading(2) how Sarah has changed with the help of the timeline. ●Students think a little more deeply: Why country music can change Sarah have a deeper thinking based on the reading of the first 2 paragraphs.
Careful reading(3) ●Students read the last paragraph and find out the dream Sarah has(Watch a video about the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum). ●Students read again and think: What has Sarah done for her dream To help students practise reading skills.
Post-reading Students work in groups to write a short summary(The teacher gives some tips at first: How to write a summary). To enable students to write a summary through cooperation.
Homework Finish the workbook. To consolidate what have been learnt.
