教 学目 标 By the end of this section, students will be able to: learn some new words and phrases, such as phrase, switch off/on, and instant; grasp structure and language feature of expository writing about science; infer the writing purpose and intended audience of the passage by some special phrases and mood; develop their imagination and curiosity about future; cultivate their critical thinking skills through discussion about the pros and cons of smart homes.
教 学 主 题 该板块的活动主题是“交流对智能家居的看法”（Exchange views on smart homes）。学生通过阅读一篇介绍未来智能家居的说明文，了解技术发展给生活带来的便利，并思考这些变化可能产生的问题。在有关科技和未来的主题语境下，从居家生活切入话题可以让读者感觉到未来科技发展与生活息息相关，从而拉近话题与读者的距离，激发他们的阅读兴趣。
教 学 重 点 引导学生熟悉并掌握该部分的话题词汇。 引导学生了解、熟悉科普说明文的结构和语篇特征，了解智能家居及智能家居在未来的用途；
教 学难 点 1. 引导学生运用所学知识表达对智能家居的看法，锻炼其辩证思维能力。 2. 培养学生对未来科技发展的好奇心，以及对未来科技发展的想象力。
教 学 内 容 与 过 程 Lead-in Brainstorming 教师引导学生根据单元标题和主题图了解单元主题、预测单元内容。 What comes to your mind when you see the unit title and the theme picture What might be talked about in this unit Step 1 Pre-reading Brainstorming 老师引导学生列举他们身边的智能产品，继而让学生思考“smart”的含义；紧接着引导学生想象智能家居是什么样的，为接下来的阅读活动做好铺垫。 Step 2 While-reading Task 1：Global reading 引导学生浏览语篇标题和小标题，然后推断语篇出处、写作目的和目标读者。教师可以向学生介绍书本活动2旁边的小技巧。 What the type of the text What is the purpose of the text Who is the intended audience of this text Task 2：Detailed reading 让学生阅读第一段回答以下问题： Why does the writer start the paragraph with two questions What does “these kinds of things” refer to What will be a smart solution In what ways will such smart homes be helpful 让学生阅读第二段回答以下问题： What makes all these intelligent controls possible 让学生阅读第三段回答以下问题： Why does the paragraph start with “In addition” What do you think “regular health checks” are 让学生阅读第四段回答以下问题： What does the writer want to convey by describing how smart homes prevent serious damage from accidents 引导学生再次阅读全文，思考作者的写作思路。 How does the writer develop these paragraphs 引导学生再读一遍，完成课本上的活动3。 Step 3 Post-reading Task 1：Complete the summary 引导学生完成书本上的活动4。 Task 2: Discuss 引导学生学生完成书本上的活动5，讨论如下问题： What advantages do smart homes have What is the writer’s attitude towards smart homes How do you know that In what way is the home of tomorrow already the home of today What might be some of the disadvantages of smart homes Step 4 Homework Choose one to complete: Write a short passage to describe your ideal smart home. It should include: ① what smart devices there are in your home; ② what their functions are; ③ your attitude towards the smart technology and your reason(s). (2) If you are able to create a smart device for your home, what will you create Write about your creation. The writing is supposed to include: ① a name indicating the device; ② a general introduction to the new device; ③ examples illustrating its new functions; ④ the benefits the new device can bring. 备注
