I Am What I Am: A celebration of traditional art
Most Chinese animated(动漫) films are based on Chinese traditional stories. 18 The film shows three stay-at-home children from a poor village in Guangdong overcoming difficulties in achieving their dream—becoming the best lion dance performers. 19
What makes it successful is the film highlighting(突出) a centuries-old Chinese folk art-lion dance. Thanks to the director Sun Haipeng’s personal life experience, it could reappear on screens. Sun lived in Guangdong for over 10 years and has been fascinated by lion dancing there. 20 “The performance is exciting and powerful. At the moment, I felt a strong sense of pride in our national culture,” Sun said. As an animated filmmaker, Sun decided to bring this to the big screen.
But it was not easy. The biggest problem lay in how to perfectly present the moves of the lion’s head through special effects. 21 This greatly affects how the hair on the lion’s head moves. So the production team bought many lion heads to watch carefully and then spent several months designing each individual hair.
22 Bands from Guangdong, like WuTiao Ren and Jiu Lian Zhen Ren, made it for the film.
As a film which tries to give young people courage to realize their dreams and a chance to experience the charm of the traditional culture, it’s really worth watching.
A.By the end of December, it had gotten a score of 8.3 out of 10 on Douban.
B.Different lion heads are made of different materials.
C.To match the theme of the film, the music is in the Guangdong style and uses Cantonese(广东话).
D.But another one, I Am What I Am, came out on Dec. 17, 2021, sets its eyes on reality.
E.Before that, he was also impressed by a lion dance performance when he was on vacation abroad.
F.The moves of the lion’s head can add fantastic color to lion dance.

We often see top students around us and everyone knows about them. Let us take Jenny as an example. She is monitor of our class. She spends a lot of time working for our class, but she s 45 gets good grades in all subjects. How do students like Jenny do that When I asked her, she said, “Hard work is not the whole story. It’s not how long you sit at the desk with your books open. It’s what you do while you are sitting.” Indeed, we can see many top students spend f 46 hours on their studies than their classmates. Jenny gave me some valuable suggestions.
Studying is a matter of personal preference(偏爱), so choose the w 47 that you are most comfortable with. Some people like working late at night when the house is quiet, while others like doing their work e 48 in the morning. Still others like studying as soon as they arrive home from school while the work is fresh in their minds. No matter which way you use, try to do your best.
Studying is your business and business comes before entertainment(娱乐). When you are studying, phone calls should go unanswered, TV shows unwatched, snacks uneaten. Studying is the only thing in your mind. N 49 can pull you away from what you are studying.
Studying is like e 50 . You chew(咀嚼) it one bite at a time. You can plan what to do today, but don’t do too much. When you can’t finish the work you have planned to do, you may l 51 confidence. On the other hand, you will not study well without a good plan. It all depends on how you arrange your time.
Jenny told me that most of us would be as good as her if we tried our best. Maybe she is right, so why not have a try
