教学内容分析
这是一篇能反应单元主题的课文，语篇类型为论说文。课文分析了足球在全世界流行的原因。读前活动介绍了足球比赛的相关术语，帮助学生提前熟悉话题，也直接抛出体育运动的“rules”，使学生明白，每一项活动都有它的规则，在选择或推荐体育活动时，规则是需要考虑的因素之一。课文阅读要培养学生快速查找具体信息的能力，明确作者的写作意图，学会通过“概念词”提炼原因，并在阅读过程中探究主题意义。
教材分析：教学内容选自必修 2的第 3单元，Presenting ideas部分学生 Recommend a sport for your PE class and complete the table.主要包括 Sport/Rules for the sport/reasons for recommendations.因此，本单元主要内容是谈论体育运动的规则；通过提炼概念词，说明推荐原因。主题意义为体育运动能带来的改变和对身心的影响。学情分析学生具备一定的对于文本的信息处理能力，能够较好地抓住文章的主旨大意，但是学生文本信息的细节处理能力有待提高和深度点拨，阅读之后对于信息的有效输出能力还不是很强，他们在平时的英语学习中学习的积极性比较高，能够积极地配合老师不断地修正自己的英语学习方法，乐于完善英语学习的分析思维，期盼通过自身的努力不断提高英语分析和表达能力。
教学目标
1. 通过快速阅读，能明确文章结构，查找段落关键词，理解文章主要内容；2. 通过阅读和回答问题，理解足球受欢迎的三个原因，并能学会用“概念词”的方法表述中国受欢迎的运动的原因。
3. 能说出足球比赛的术语及规则，思考体育运动对身心的影响及给人们带来的改变。

【设计说明】该部分的主要目的，介绍足球运动的相关术语及基本规则，使学生对这种流行的体育活动有更多的认知，重要的是引导学生意识到任何一项体育运动都是有规则的，而规则是介绍或选择某项体育运动的考虑因素之一，为 Presenting ideas的输出做铺垫。通过阅读确定每段人物介绍的具体要素，归纳各段主旨大意，初步了解袁隆平的相关信息，锻炼学生提取信息的能力，强化对人物介绍要素的理解；同时，指导学生通过提取关键词，概括段落大意,形成自己对文本框架的认识，为输出环节做好铺垫。
