There are 33 recognized sites in the corridor: 8 in Kazakhstan, 22 in China, and 3 in Kyrgyzstan. The sites include capital cities and palace complexes of various empires and kingdoms, trading settlements, Buddhist cave temples, ancient paths, posthouses, sections of the Great Wall, tombs and religious buildings.
