Step 1 Warming-up
1. Free talking about the new topic: “How do you often go to school ” “How”
2. Show some pictures, guess the words and say something about the pictures.
3. Introduce the new words. Let the students pronunce, spell and read. Explain some new words.
Step 2 Guessing game.
1. Give the background information and sentences with some missing words.

Step 3 Listening
1. Pre-listening:
(1) Listen and match the words in the box with the pictures in Activity 1. Read through the list of words and make sure they understand them all.
(2) Ask the students to check their answers with a partner.

2. While-listening:

(1) Put the students in groups of 3-4 to talk about problems travelling to school.
(2) Elicit their ideas and teach the key vocabulary: road, crowded, accident, etc.
(3) Play the recording. Ask the students to find out the problems and different ways of traveling to school talked about in the conversation.
(4) Play the recording again for them to check. Elicit answers from the whole class.
(6) Play the recording once more while the students read and underline the key information.
