模拟练习1
一、概写原文
A psychologist once said, “If you’ve conquered every one of your fears, congratulations — you’re dead.” This humorous quote points to a simple truth — no one can escape fear completely.
However, fear can be a good thing. It is a natural, healthy reaction to danger. In fact, sometimes we are afraid of things that aren’t dangerous, such as public speaking, failing a test, or being rejected. These unhealthy fears can keep us from fulfilling our dreams. So how can we successfully face our fears
First, admit what you fear and then share it with someone you trust. Perhaps you worry that others would look down on you if they know what you fear, but you might be surprised at how many other people share the same fears. Learning you are not the only one who fears something will give you self-esteem(自尊心) a push. Second, ask yourself, “What is the worst-case scenario(最坏的情况) ”This question can help you gain perspective(洞察力).If you think about it, the worst might not be that bad, after pared with the fear of losing a contest or being turned down, the regret of having missed opportunities can be even harder to bear. Even worse, you will never know what you might have accomplished. Finally, take small steps toward conquering your fears. If you fear public speaking, start by giving a small talk to a few people. If your talk doesn’t go well, try again. Each small success will increase your confidence and persistence is one of the keys to success.
You might never completely conquer your fear of certain things, but what is important is that you can bring yourself to do what you fear. True bravery is feeling afraid but doing what you have to do anyway. It’s also true that you struggle with fear and don’t let your fears stop you from getting the most out of life.

模拟练习2
一、概写原文

In the popular imagination, the rise of selfdriving cars will mean greener cities, saferroads, and happier workers. With technology, speeding, braking, and reaccelerating whichare responsible for much of the gas burned on roads, today and the resulting air pollutionwould be a memory. But despite these opportunities, there are certain reasons why driverlessvehicles may fail to live up to some of these expectations, or at least take a little while longer to achieve them.
First, truly automated technology - at least the kind that requires no humaninvolvement -is rare in every sector of the economy, and there’s little reason to thinkdriving will be any different. There is a permanent need for a human backup incaseiving, that means human drivers will still bear the finalresponsibility for the cars they're riding in.
A related challenge-particularly for driverless cars-is the complexity of the systemsinvolved. For example, some cars today require over 100 million lines of software code (代码) to keep them running More code means more functions, which, to some degree, alsomeans more opportunities for software errors. Driverless cars raise a challenge in this regard and possibly cause more opportunities for errors- errors that can lead to accidents.
Yet the greatest challenge facing driverless cars isn't technological, but psychological. Surveys consistently reveal global skepticism about the technology. Americans, for example, remain more worried than excited by driverless cars. Over half of the American public says itwould not ride one given the opportunity. This shows a deep-seated lack of trust in thetechnology. Similar ideas have been expressed worldwide.
What's more likely is that human drivers will continue applying some control over theircars, regardless of how automated those cars are. Some may quarrel with this idea. Butautomakers have long been preparing for it. Just ask Nissan, Waymo, and Zoo, all of whichare exploring ways for human drivers to retake control of a car should automation fail. Inother words, driverless does not-and will not-mean humanless.

一、概写原文
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词的内容概要。
According to a study at the University of Marland Medical Center in Baltimore, researchers found that people who had a good sense of humor and laughed a lot, not only at home but also at work, had fewer heart problems than people who laughed less, and laughing people tend to live a longer life than the ones who are not.
After reading plenty of information about the benefits of laughing and a careful study of previous papers in this area, a doctor in India started a laughter club. Dr. Mandan Damaris's laughter club quickly grew into 1 800 groups throughout India and over 6 000 around the world. The laughter club had even inspired World Laughter Day, which people celebrate on the first Sunday of May every year. Instructors at the clubs get people laughing not only through jokes but through simple laughing exercises. For example, instructors and participants repeat the chant" ho- ho-ho" and "ha-ha-ha" together. What's more, participants also do the "Lion laugh" by sticking out their tongues and waving their hands around their ears. Other exercises focus on breathing and simple yoga exercises. In a word, all the activities that can cause laugh are included in the clubs.
These laughter clubs are very popular in hospitals and nursing homes nowadays in India, where participants can forget about their aches and pains while laughing. It seems that laughing may be just as important as eating right and exercising.
Not everyone can join a laughter club, but we all can take part in the same practice. According to the doctor, besides taking part in the clubs, everyone can do something o make themselves laugh. How can you make laughing a part of your daily routine If you feel funny about joining a laughter club, you can rent a funny movie, remember a funny experience, do some sports, go to the zoo, watch the monkeys or even, just make yourself laugh. You will not be able to keep a straight face all the time.
So, don t worry; be happy. Laugh a little and live longer.
