教材分析(Analysis of the teaching materials) . 单元整体分析(Unit integral analysis): Theme: Man and society, Man and nature Three units are included in this module, which aims to tell the current situation of population, the problems caused by such situation and some effective ways to solve these problems. Unit 1 is a conversation between Lingling and Tony, who talk about the current situation of the world’s population and some problems related to it. In Unit 2, a story of Jo is mentioned, from which we can see the reasons and problems of urbanization, as well as the attempt to put forward some effective solutions. The key language points of this module, namely articles and large numbers are contained in Unit 3, which shows a chart about the population of four cities in two different years, two short texts about population and the problems it caused, and a listening material about car club.

学情分析(Analysis of the students) Knew: Students have already learned something about numbers, thus it’s not so difficult for them to recognize and read large numbers in this module. They have got some basic information about population and problems it caused in their geography course, so they are familiar with the topic of this module. Want: Students may want to know more about the specific reasons of population problems, especially the situation of their living place. What’s more, they are eager to talk about the solutions since curiosity is the character of students in such ages. Learn: Students are going to learn large numbers, some problems caused by the population situation and the logical thinking of “problem-reason-solution” .
教学目标(Teaching aims) By the end of this module, students are able to: 1.recognize, view and read out the large numbers in graphs, and describe the situation of the world’s population 2.find out the problems that are caused by current situation of population in certain countries and analyze the reasons 3.discuss the effective ways to solve the problems and write a draft resolution about population problems 4.work together to design a proposal and assess groups ’ works based on the evaluation scale as well as giving some suggestions 5. arouse their concern towards common problems faced by all human beings and realize humans are a community with a shared future

2020. 2. Students try to analyze and guess the population of New York and Tokyo. Then obtain the number from the listening material. 3. Students listen to the long conversation and fill in the chart. Observe students ’ understanding of the listening material by looking at their notebooks and listening to their presentation.

Observe if students can express their opinions with the key words so as to decide how to focus on theses words. Observe if they can guess the main idea just by looking at the pictures and title. Observe if students can use some linking words to recall the passage base on the PRS mind map. Observe if their clarification is reasonable and to see what they talk during discussion. Correct them and give them suggestions if necessary.
