一、教材分析:
本节课是外研版(三起)小学英语六年级上册的第六模块第一单元。教材主要围绕“你收到了一封来自纽约的信”展开,通过介绍信件的内容和信件所涉及的地点、人物等,帮助学生了解纽约的一些风景名胜、文化特色和人物故事。通过听、说、读、写等多种方式,培养学生的英语听说能力,拓展学生的词汇量和语言表达能力。
二、教学目标:
1. 听:能听懂有关信件内容的简短对话和句子。
2. 说:能用简单的句子描述信件中的内容,谈论纽约的一些风景名胜和文化特色。

4. 写:能根据所给提示写一封类似的信件。
5. 文化意识:了解纽约的一些风景名胜和文化特色。
三、教学重点和教学难点:

四、学情分析:
学生是小学六年级的学生,已经具备一定的英语基础,能够进行简单的英语交流。他们对于纽约这个地方可能了解不多,但对于信件这种形式已经有一定的认识。他们的学习兴趣和好奇心较高,喜欢通过听说读写等方式来学习英语。
五、教学过程:
Step 1: Warm-up
- Greet the students and ask them if they have ever received a letter or postcard from another place.
- Teacher: "Raise your hand if you have ever received a letter or postcard from another place. Can you share your experience with the class "
- Show some pictures of famous landmarks in New York, such as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square, and ask if the students know these places.
- Teacher: "Look at these pictures. Do you recognize any of these places Can you tell me their names "
Step 2: Pre-Listening
- Show the cover of the letter and ask the students to predict what the letter might be about.
- Teacher: "Take a look at this letter. What do you think it is about Can you make some guesses "
- Introduce some key vocabulary related to the letter, such as "Statue of Liberty," "Times Square," and "Central Park." Use pictures or real objects to help the students understand the words.
- Teacher: "Now, let's learn some new words. This is the Statue of Liberty. Can you say 'Statue of Liberty' "
- Read the vocabulary words aloud and ask the students to repeat after you.
- Teacher: "Repeat after me: Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park."
Step 3: Listening
- Play the audio recording of the letter from New York.
- Teacher: "Listen carefully to the letter from New York. Pay attention to the places and activities mentioned in the letter."
- Ask the students to listen carefully and try to understand the main idea of the letter.
- Play the audio recording again, pausing after each sentence to check comprehension and allow the students to repeat.
- Teacher: "Now, let's listen to the letter again. Repeat after each sentence."
- Ask some comprehension questions, such as "What places are mentioned in the letter " and "What activities can you do in Central Park "
- Teacher: "Who can tell me which places are mentioned in the letter What activities can you do in Central Park "
Step 4: Speaking
- Divide the students into pairs or small groups.
- Ask them to discuss the questions related to the letter, such as "Which place would you like to visit in New York " and "What would you do if you were in Times Square "
- Teacher: "Now, I want you to work in pairs and discuss these questions. Share your ideas with your partner."
- Encourage the students to use the vocabulary and phrases they have learned to express their ideas.
- Teacher: "Remember to use the words and phrases we learned earlier. For example, you can say 'I would like to visit Times Square because...' or 'If I were in Central Park, I would...'"
Step 5: Reading and Writing
- Distribute copies of the letter to the students.
- Ask them to read the letter silently and underline any words or phrases they don't understand.
- Teacher: "Take a few minutes to read the letter silently. If you come across any words or phrases you don't understand, underline them."
- Go through the letter together as a class, explaining any difficult words or phrases.
- Teacher: "Let's go through the letter together. If you have any questions about the words or phrases, please raise your hand."
- In pairs or small groups, ask the students to create their own version of the letter, using the given prompts, such as "Write a letter to your friend about your city or a place you have visited."
- Teacher: "Now, I want you to work with your partner and write a letter. Imagine you are writing to a friend about your city or a place you have visited. Use the prompts to help you."
- Monitor the students' writing and provide assistance as needed.
- Ask some students to share their letters with the class.
- Teacher: "Who would like to share their letter with the class Raise your hand."
Step 6: Wrap-up
- Review the key vocabulary and phrases learned in the lesson.
- Teacher: "Let's review the words and phrases we learned today. Who can tell me the name of the famous statue in New York "
- Summarize the main points of the letter and the places mentioned in it.
- Teacher: "Today, we learned about a letter from New York. We talked about the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and Central Park. Can you tell me one thing you can do in Central Park "
- Ask the students if they have any questions or if there's anything they would like to know more about New York.
- Teacher: "Do you have any questions about today's lesson Is there anything else you would like to know about New York "
