Analysis of Students They are Grade 7 students of intermediate level. Most of them have an active desire to learn and can think and learn actively in English class. They have grasped some words about family members such as grandparents, father, mother, sister, brother, and so on. However, they are also less adept at using demonstrative pronouns to introduce family members and general questions and personal pronouns to identify people.
Analysis of Teaching Materials The topic of the unit is “Family”. 1a provides a topic situation for the target language of the unit, which enables students into David’s family and the topic of the unit. 1b is the basic listening input of this unit, so that students can have a preliminary perception of key vocabulary and core sentence patterns related to introducing and identifying characters. 1c is the controlled oral output based on listening input. 2a-2c adopts the activity design form of task chain, which provides students with further opportunities for language input and output. The teaching materials arouse students to have the real emotion and interest as well as the practice of listening and speaking and to complete controlled oral output according to the listening content and conduct simple communication.

Lead in 4 minutes Activity 1: Let’s watch Students watch a video about family and figure out what it is about.
Activity 2: Let’s think Students think about what “family” is. Students answer the question: Do you love your family Then get to know the character Xia Yu in Home With Kids. To trigger the student’s interest and motivation to learn the topic of family. To create a relaxing class atmosphere and a situation for students.
Pre-listening 6 minutes Activity 3: Let’s learn Students learn some words of family members with the help of the pictures. Students learn some demonstrative pronouns to introduce family members via some pictures. To get students speak out and acquire some curriculum words about family members. To help students learn to introduce and identify family members and demonstrative pronouns: this, that, these, those.
While-listening 15 minutes Activity 4: Let’s write Students match the words with the people in the picture. Activity 5: Let’s listen Students listen and circle the words they hear and learn the listening skill of catching key words. Activity 6: Let’s predict Students guess the family members in Cindy’s family photo. Activity 7: Let’s listen Students listen to the tape and circle the words. (2) Students listen to the tape again and match the names with the people in the picture. To train students’ skill of prediction before listening. Post-listening 13 minutes Activity 8: Let’s talk Students make conversations to talk about Cindy’s family members with partners. Students talk about their own family with partners with the help of family photos. To offer chance for students to use the target language to talk about family. Summary & Homework 2 minutes Activity 9: Summary Students make a short summary to summarize what they have learned today. Activity 11: Homework Students are supposed to remember the words and introduce their own family orally by using the sentence patterns they have learned.
