Knowledge Objective: Ss should know there are two parts in the full name, including first name and last name and can distinguish them.
Ability Objective: Ss can ask and answer others’ first name and last name by using the target sentence structure. (What’s your first/last name My first/last name is ....)
Emotion Objective: Ss should respect others’ names and cherish their own names because there are blessings from parents in everyone’s name. They can make clear the difference between Chinese name and English name.

【Teaching Procedures】
Step 1: Lead in
Review: T: What’s my telephone number Ss: It’s XXXXXXXXX.
The teacher shows an ID card which contains names and telephone numbers. And the teacher marks the first name and last name separately and explain them to Ss.
Intention: To elicit Ss’ prior knowledge about telephone number and introduce Ss to the Western concept of first names and last names.
Step 2: Pre-reading
The teacher shows some stars’ pictures (western star and Chinese stars/Teacher) and let Ss distinguish which one is the first name and which one is the last name.
Work on 2a. Write F for first name and L for last name.
Pair work: Practice the conversation to ask and answer first name and last name with their partners by using the sentence structure(show some movie stars’ ID card on the slide):
What’s his/her first/last name His/Her first/last name is ....
Intention: To give Ss’ the opportunity to practice and apply the target language (What’s his/her first/last name His/Her first/last name is ....).
Step 3: While-reading
1st reading: Read and find out the names in the passage, such as Jenny Green, Gina Smith.
2nd reading：Circle the first names(Dale, Eric, Mingming) and underline the last names(Miller, Brown, and Zhang ).
3rd reading: Match the names with the telephone numbers.
4th reading: Then find out three pairs of friends in the name list.
5th reading: Read the passage again, fill in the blanks of the passage summary and match the pictures.
Intention: Reading the passage again and again can make Ss grasp the detail information of the passage. To provide Ss’ with reading comprehension practice using the target language.
Step 4: Post-reading
Retell the passage based on the blanks above.
A video about a boy’s name which is laughed by his schoolmates and Ss should share their feelings.
Intention: To let Ss retell the passage with basic information to have a better understanding of it. Enjoy the video can let Ss think about the meaning of our names and know that there are blessings from patents so we should respect and cherish our names.
Step 5: Summary

Draw a painting with words and picture about Mid-autumn Festival.
Exercise book: page 11.
