As the hottest time of the year, Sanfu begins on July 11th this year. In Chinese lunar calendar, Sanfu, also known as the hottest days of summer, refers to(指) the three 10-day periods that are called Toufu, Zhongfu and Mofu.
Sanfu usually comes between mid-July to mid-August. To cool off the heat(热量) in summer, ancient Chinese people often made special cooling food and drinks, such as duck soup, sour plum(梅) juice and green bean soup.
What’s more, Sanfu days are thought to be the best time to treat(治疗) winter illness. Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners(TCM) (中医) often use Sanfutie to treat coughs(咳嗽) and arthritis(关节炎). It is a kind of patch(胶布) made of Chinese herbal medicine(中药). The use of Sanfutie can be traced back to(追溯) at least 2,000 years ago in Huangdi Neijing, a traditional textbook for traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. It was commonly used in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and is now becoming popular again as more people turn to TCM treatment these days.

There is a special library in Hangzhou. It’s far from the city center but lots of people visit it every day. It’s Xiaosong Library, started by a famous musician in China, in 2016.
There are about 50,000 books in the library. The founder and his team choose all of them. The library has a good environment(环境) for readers. There is a big room for readers to read inside the library. The natural view outside the library helps the readers relax. In spring and summer, there are lots of flowers around the library. Readers can enjoy a beautiful view through the big windows and often forget to leave.
