Lesson content:
Introduce someone you admire
Text analysis: This article introduces the famous physicist Einstein
His life and his tremendous contributions in scientific research. The first natural paragraph summarizes the entire text, introducing Einstein's significant contributions - relativity and famous equations. The second and third paragraphs respectively introduce Einstein's academic and work achievements. The fourth natural paragraph introduces Einstein's pursuit of scientific research despite encountering difficulties. The fifth paragraph introduces Einstein as a somewhat eccentric but kind and interesting person who is loved by everyone. The last paragraph introduces that Einstein's death was a huge loss for the world.
Lesson objectives:
1. Through reading, understand Einstein's life and his main achievements.
2. Learn to introduce the deeds or contributions of great figures in appropriate language.
3. Cultivate students' positive outlook on life and excellent qualities of contributing to society.
Key and difficult points:
1.Deeply understand the content of the text and obtain textual information.
2.Introduce the person you admire the most in appropriate language.

1. Collect some celebrity stories and pictures.
2. Preview new vocabulary and texts.

Step I Learning and Understanding
Activity 1: Obtaining and organizing
Show the picture to students and ask them who he is.
2. What do you know about Albert Einstein Read the title and try to predict what the text is mainly about.
3. Read the text and complete the timeline. Then introduce Einstein's life story and achievements in your own words.

Suggested answers:
●Though he was brilliant, he was also a person who faced struggles, for example, when he failed to pass to pass his university entrance exam, when he failed to get a good job, and when he had to flee Germany.
●I am impressed most by how friendly and easy he was to approach. Even when he was busy and did not want to be bothered, he still found a way to deal with people in gentleness and good humour.

Activity 2: Analysis and Judgment
Study the organisation and language features.
●What type of writing is this text How does the writer develop the text
●Find the descriptions that tell us what Einstein looked like and what kind of person he was.
●What rhetorical devices are used in the passage Give examples.
Suggested answers:
●The text is a biography, which is developed chronologically.

Activity 3: Practical Exercise
1. Brainstorm.
Choose the person you are going to write about. It should be someone you think is great in some way. It can be an ordinary person, such as a parent, a relative, or a friend.
Make a list of things that need to be included in your introduction. Use the outline below to help you.
Part 1:Basic information about the writing ●What is the title of the writing ●What is the main idea of the writing Part 2: Your analysis of the writing ●What is the story of the great person ●What achievements does he/she have Part 3: Your opinion about the story ●Why do you think he/she is great ●How do you feel about this person
3. Use your notes to write your introduction.
【设计意图】本活动为写作实践,在写作前设计了头脑风暴活动,然后引导学生对全文结构做出设计，收集尽可能多的想法，列举重要内容，最后根据段落提示完成写作，旨在降低学生的写作难度，增强对写作的信心。

Activity 4: Criticism and Evaluation
1. Exchange your draft with a partner and use the checklist to help you review your partner's draft.

2. Take your draft back and revise it.
3. Share your introduction with the rest of the class.
