When my teenaged son became seriously ill, terrible times for my family began. Our once-happy home became tense and depressed. My husband and I were exhausted under the great stress of caring for my son. It was as if we forgot how to communicate-we couldn't have a simple conversation without a fighting. Our marriage was on the point of breaking up.
One evening, my son and I were talking about gifts. I recalled my first Valentine's present from my husband, a kazoo. I was awkward when I received it because I couldn't get it to make a sound although I am a professional saxophone player. However hard I tried, it just never worked. The kazoo eventually got packed away and forgotten. But my son was interested and insisted on seeing it. After some trouble, I found it.
"You couldn't get a sound What's so hard about it " my husband asked, amazed. He took the kazoo and blew. Nothing happened. Surprised, he tried again. Still there was no sound. Frustrated, he tried again, only to produce a funny sound like an angry bumblebee trapped in the mouth of a bear. We burst into laughter. My son took a turn to play the kazoo. He did no better than us, causing more laughing.
Seeing his face light up, we felt as if the darkness had lifted and a ray of sunshine was let in. It was the best ten minutes of the past couple of years. The mood stayed light for the rest of the evening. It didn't solve anything. But this experience with the kazoo brought some change in our hearts that always reminds us that there are still things to laugh at and enjoy, and that we can still connect as a family.

Have you ever heard someone say "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" or explain to you why it's vital to start the day with a healthy breakfast It seems that this meal, for many of us, is necessary for our day to start well, but is it really that important
The word "breakfast" comes from "breaking the fast (禁食期)" — the idea of ending the period in which we don't eat during the night. The regeneration process that takes place while we are sleeping consumes some of our natural food reserves in our bodies. Breakfast gives us an opportunity to replenishthose reduced stores of things like protein and calcium. So, in that way, a healthy breakfast makes sense.
There are also many studies which seem to relate a state of obesity(肥胖) to skipping breakfast. In fact, it leads many health experts to conclude that a healthy breakfast not only regulates but also loses weight. In a U.S. study, 50,000 people were observed over seven years, and those who ate a healthy breakfast were found to have a lower BMI, which seems to suggest that breakfast may indeed help people maintain a healthy weight.
But it might not be as simple as that. Some experts, like Alexandra Johnstone, professor of the University of Aberdeen, suggest those who skip breakfast might be less aware of healthy diets, and people who eat breakfast might have a healthier lifestyle overall — exercising and not smoking, for example. And with the popularity of intermittent (间歇的) fasting to lose weight, there may also be some benefits to skipping breakfast. Intermittent fasting can improve blood sugar control, insulin sensitivity, and lower blood pressure.
So, while breakfast has its benefits, it might not be the most important meal. It seems that a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet might be more important for us than just one single meal.

A.Use something up. B.Cut something down.
C.Keep something fresh. D.Make something full again.

A.People skipping breakfast got their weight down.
B.People having a healthy breakfast put on weight.
C.People having a healthy breakfast had a lower BMI.
D.People having breakfast had better blood sugar control.
14.Which of the following may Alexandra Johnstone agree with
A.It is OK to practice intermittent fasting.
B.Most people are not aware of healthy diets.
C.Skipping breakfast does much harm to health.
D.Breakfast is sure to help people keep a healthy weight.
15.What could be the best title for the passage
