—Reading and Thinking
1. Type of lesson: Reading.
2. Topic: Book2 Unit3:The Internet
3. Teaching objectives.
(1) Knowledge objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand this reading material. In general, including the structure, main idea of each paragraph and the gist of the text.
(2)Ability objectives: students will able to learn some strategies such as use the title to predict the content of an article.
(3)Emotional objectives: Students can get to know how to use the internet properly.
4. Teaching Method: PWP
5. Teaching aids: video, blackboard.
6. Teaching key and difficult points.
(1)Teaching key points:
① Students can figure out the main structure of the passage by analyzing the main idea of each part.
② Students can summarize the changes that the Internet brings to Jan.
(2)Teaching difficult points
① Students can develop the skills of reading such as skimming and scanning.
② Students can express their ideas about the internet.
7. Teaching procedures.
Step 1:Lead-in (5mins)
The teacher asks the questions. Students can discuss with their classmates.
Q1: What do you usually do on the internet
Q2: How has the Internet changed your life？
(Justification: To arouse students’ interest and activate their prior knowledge.)
Step 2:Pre-reading (5 mins)
Predicting: The teacher presents the title of this passage and students have a prediction about the main meaning and the author’s attitude of this passage.
(Justification: To arouse students’ curiosity about the text and motivate students to read the text.)
Step 3: While-reading. (20mins)
Skimming
Students are asked to read the passage as quickly as they can, then try to match the main ideas with each paragraph and analyze the structure of this passage.
(Justification: To help students understand the passage in a short time so that they can improve their skimming skill.)
Scanning
Students need to read the passage again and try to answer the following questions.
Para1:
Q1: What are the benefits of the Internet
Para2-4:
Q2: Observe the changes of people's lives and try to fill in the blanks.
Q3: What's the next thing Jan wants to accomplish
Para5:
Q: What can we learn from her experiences
（Justification: By reading the passage carefully, students will better understand the details in it and improve their scanning skill.）
Step 4. Post-reading (10mins)
Discussion: Students will have a discussion about “The advantages and disadvantages of using the internet. And what should we do to use the internet properly ” After discussion teacher will invite some students to share their opinions.
(Justification: Students can participate in the activity so that they can learn from each other.And students will realize how to use internet properly. )
8. Summary and homework.(5mins)
Summary: Students summarize what they have learned by themselves. If necessary, the teacher provides help.
Homework: Write a short essay about how to use internet properly.
