The History of English

  本文最典型的写作特色就是举例子, 举例子是为了证明论点, 论点往往就是例子之前的部分。就本文来说, 从第二段到第六段都是在举例子, 举例子的目的是什么? 当然就是为了证明作者在第一段所提出来的论点,也就是本文的话题:English is a crazy language to learn.
(When reading, we should pay more attention to the examples, which help to illustrate(举例说明) the point(观点) made by the author. Take this passage for example, from Paragraph 2 to Paragraph 6, the author offers many examples.Obviously, he wants to use the examples to illustrate the topic of this passage—English is a crazy language to learn.)

The type of the passage is an essay (小品文).
It’s usually short and deals with a subject or a topic in a limited way, and expresses a particular point of view. In this kind of passage, the author usually uses examples to support his/her idea.

The name of “pineapple” developed from the Spanish word “pina”, with “apple” added to show it’s a kind of fruit.
