Teaching procedures： Teaching procedures： Step 1 Preparation Review five basic sentence structures and the related rules. Check the students’ homework. Step 2 Presentation Activity 1: Discussion 1.Ask the students to discuss with their partners the differences between the S+V+O structure and the S+V+P structure 2.How they create a passage based on given topics and sentence structures. Activity 2: Pair work Explain the functions of adverbials. Step 3 Progress 1.Differences between the S+V+O structure and the S+V+P structure 2. Explain the functions of adverbials We can add an adverbial to each of the above five sentence structures. We use an adverbial to show when (adverbial of _____), where (adverbial of_______) or how (adverbial of _______) an action is done. Step 4 Practice 1.Please find the adverbials in the following sentences. a) By setting goals now, you are deciding what you want to achieve in the future. b) To realize your goal, you need to have a good plan, manage your time well and pay attention to details. c) When you achieve a goal, you see the result of your hard work. 2. Finish B2 on P7 of the textbook. 3. Write a short passage about how to achieve the goal for the new term. (1) What is your goal for the new term How are you going to achieve your goal Write about it using different sentence structures. (2) Presentation and evaluation Invite some of the students to share their writings. Please evaluate the writings and see if the sentences are complete in structure. Step 5 Summary Summarize differences between the S+V+O structure and the S+V+P structure and how to apply the rules.
课后作业 Polish the writing after class and exchange the writing with other classmates.
