Recently the French government passed a law in order to change the face of France’s cities. The law states that the roofs(屋顶) of all new buildings in the downtown(闹市区) of cities must be covered in part with either plants or solar panels(太阳能板).
So, why are these so-called rooftop gardens useful First of all, they will help cut the amount of energy which is needed for heating and cooling the buildings in summer and winter. The plants on green roofs will also help produce pleasant air, thus cleaning the polluted city air. The soil used to grow the plants will also help hold rainwater. This will make problems such as the flooding(洪水) less possible. In addition, these rooftop gardens will give birds a place to nest. And of course they will create new community areas in cities where space is limited.
French environmentalists(环境学家) wanted the law to state that plants should completely cover the roofs of all new buildings in France. However, as a first step, the government decided to limit the law’s power so that only the buildings in the downtown would be changed. The government also suggested giving businesses the choice. That’s to say, they could choose to fit solar panels on to their roofs to get their own power or just grow plants.
France is now one of many countries, including Germany, Australia and Canada, that use green roofs in cities to lower their bad effect on the environment.

A. change the appearance of France’s cities B. cover all new buildings with plants

A. using numbers B. telling a story
C. listing reasons D. giving an example
21.What does the underlined word “they” in the third paragraph refer to
A. Local people in cities. B. French environmentalists.
C. The French government. D. Businesses in the downtown.
22. What can we learn from the passage
A. Businesses in France have to grow plants on to their roofs.
B. The green roofs which have plants will help clan the city air.
C. Many countries including Canada use green roofs everywhere.
D. The businesses will get power totally on their own in the future.

Most teens try very hard to look good. They wear beautiful clothes, cool shoes and fashionable sunglasses. They may want to stay home from school because of the smallest pimple(粉刺). I know-because I used to focus only on my appearance. However, now I work hard to see more than just my looks. I'll explain why.
Firstly, if you only focus on how you look, you'll also focus only on the appearance of others. As a result, you'll become a person who can't see the truly important characteristics (品质) in others. Some people don't follow the latest fashion trends. If you avoid getting to know them, you’ll miss out on many interesting and valuable relationships in your life.
Moreover, if you focus only on your appearance, you’ll miss out on chances to improve your abilities, For example, if you spend all your time trying to look fashionable, you won’t have any time to become a better musician or improve your grades at school. Even the most attractive people need to have skills to succeed in life.
In addition, focusing only on your looks can make you feel disappointed about yourself. If you don't worry about a pimple on your face, you' ll be less likely to feel unhappy about yourself. On the whole, happy people like to communicate with the world in a positive way. Therefore, feeling happy is more important than looking good. You should work hard at feeling good, not just looking good.
I used to focus only on how I looked. However, now I work hard to focus on all the different parts of myself--my appearance, personality, abilities, and so on. So I'm a much happier person. If you take my advice, you'll be a happier person too. Your first step is to look at yourself without a mirror!
27. What's the writer's purpose of writing the first paragraph
A. To introduce his opinion on looks. B. To explain how important your look is.
C. To let you buy more beautiful things. D. To tell you what he used to be like.
28. According to the writer, focusing only on your appearance____________.
A. encourages you to enjoy the world B. helps you see important points in others
C. causes you to feel proud of yourself D. stops you from improving your abilities
29. The passage is about the importance of____________.
A. focusing on your physical appearance B. improving your abilities and skills
C. seeing all the different parts of yourself D. cool clothes and fashionable accessories
30. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage
第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分)
下面文章中有五处(31-35)需要添加首句。请从以下选项(A、B、C、D、E和F)中选出符合各段意思的首句。选项中有一项是多余项。
Thanks to improvements in both health care and personal safety, most people are living healthier, longer lives. Someone who is born today can expect to live 25 years longer than someone who was born in the 19th century. It's even thought that in the future more and more people will celebrate their hundredth birthday. Here are five rules for a healthy life.
____ 31_____
We all know that we shouldn't run across the road in front of the oncoming traffic, or cycle too close to cars. But we're not sure about how to stay safe in the countryside. When you're out walking you should always go with someone and tell your parents where you're planning to go. Remember! Climbing may also mean falling--what goes up must come down. Safety rules and advice are there to help you, not to make life less fun.
_____32_____
Sure, it's comfortable to sit on the couch and watch. But experts say you should walk at least 10,000 steps every day to keep fit. In the past, people's jobs required more physical effort. When farmers were working in the fields, they were keeping fit at the same time. Think about it: do you get the same amount of exercise today as they did in the past
_____33_____
It's important to eat plenty of the right things, above all, fruit, vegetables, and to see fast food or sweets as something very special-maybe just and then. The wrong diet means you'll put on weight, one of the fastest ways to an unhealthy life.
_____34____
When we were babies, we slept for much of the day —if our parents were lucky! Teenagers don't need as much sleep but it's important to get about eight hours' sleep. At weekends, you've got more time, so use it not just for your friends, but for rest, too.
____ 35____
Yes, you knew I was going to say this! But it's so important. More teenagers damage their health through smoking and taking drugs than any other dangers. Think about the effect on your family and friends, and think about its effect on you and your health.
A. Don't worry. Be happy! B. Say no to smoking and drugs!C. Be careful! It's dangerous out there! D. Rest up while you can!E. Watch your diet! F. Don't be a couch potato!

As I know that hotel, I decided to help them and took them there. On the road, we talked a lot. I told them about the great changes in our hometown, such as the more convenient transportation, the fresher air and so on.
Although it was late when I got home that day, I was very happy. Because I not only helped foreign friends, but also realized the importance of learning English well.
