Step 4 Sentence Analysis
I had been waiting with my fellow graduating students for the moment when I would walk out onto the stage to receive my degree certificate. L1-2
我一直在与即将毕业的同学们一起等待着走上台领取学位证书的那一刻。
句中关系副词when引导 ,并在从句中充当 (句子成分)。
Little did I know that I was about to experience the best four years of my life. L20-21
我几乎没有想到我就要经历我一生中最美好的4年时光。
该句是倒装句,little置于句首时,句子要部分倒装。其他具有否定意义的词还有never、hardly、seldom等。
Eg. Seldom did she see such beautiful scenery.
It soon dawned on me that many university professors are quite willing to share what they know, and they do take a genuine interest in their students' intellectual development. L42-44
很快我就开始明白,许多大学教授非常愿意分享他们所知道的,并且他们的确由衷地/真心实意地 关心学生的智力发展。
句中dawn on sb 意为“使开始明白,使渐渐领悟,使开始理解”
It在句中为形式主语,真正的主语是that.....development.
Eg:It dawned on me that my parents loved me more than themselves.
