教学重点： To learn the text type of a letter of advice.
2. To learn the structure of a letter of advice. 3. To learn the language of a letter of advice.
教学难点： 1. To use some useful expressions to give advice.
教学过程
Step1 Pre-writing Greeting Review the problems of Rebecca. Review and read Cythia 's reply about how Rebecca can get along well with her mother. After reading,think about two questions: ⑴What’s the purpose of Cynthia's reply ⑵Do you think whether Cynthia's reply can help Rebecca or not Step2 While-writing Read Cythia 's reply to Rebecca again,and think about how to write a letter of advice to help Simon or Laura like Cynthia’s reply. 2.Learn the text type of the letter. Cynthia 's reply is a letter of advice,which is written to someone who has a problem and does not know how to solve it. In a letter of advice, you try to help solve the problem by offering useful advice. 3.Learn the structure of the letter. At the opening of the letter,we should show our understanding.In the body of the letter,we should offer several pieces of advice to help solve the problem.At the ending of the letter, we should use a positive message to cheer up the person you are writing to. Learning about the language of the letter. ⑴表达理解： I understand your feelings. I understand how you feel. You're right to be upset about that. ⑵表达安慰或同情: I am sorry to hear that you…… Do not be unhappy. You are not alone.It is completely normal to struggle with the stress that parent-child tensions create. （P17） ⑶我可以给你一些建议: I am writing to give you some advice. I am writing to help you work out your problems. I am writing to offer some advice, so as to help you work out your problems.⑷连接词: first of all,firstly, secondly, thirdly， what’s more,moreover,besides, in addition, last but not least,finally, eventually... ⑸Review Simon’s Problems and Laura’s Problems and think about what advice we can give Simon or Laura. Have a talk/communicate with Stop complaining Tell them your loneliness Put yourself into their shoes Understand them Make a deal with them Have a family outing Ask them to help you with your schoolwork ⑹希望我的建议有用 I hope my suggestions will be of benefit to you.
