Day 1:Exploration of the Kinabatangan Wetlands

Day 2:Journey to the Danum Valley
Today will travel deep in the forest. There's an early wake up for a full breakfast, before heading for your next destination, the Danum Valley. Firstly, take a boat ride, followed by a land travel transfer to Lahad Datu, then onto Danum Valley.
Arrive at the Borne o Rainforest Lodge for lunch. This region is home to some of the highest diversity on the planet. In the afternoon, you will head out for the first of several wildlife walks with local guides.
Day 3:Fully Explore the Danum Valley
Spend the day with your guide hiking in Danum Valley to search for animals both large and small and everything explained in great detail. A forest alive with smells, sounds and sights.
In the evening, enjoy a talk about Alfred Wallace's contribution to the theory of evolution and his discoveries in this region.
Day 4:Danum Valley to Kota Kinabalu
Spend the morning on a final drive of the forest in search of wildlife. Return to the lodge for lunch, and then head for the 1.5-hour journey back to Lahad Datu for a l-hour flight to Kota Kinabalu. Take a short transfer to the Marriot Hotel in the city centre, and then head out for a final dinner in a local restaurant.

I have a two-and-a-half-year-old who, after being attacked by a wild bird, and being jumped on without warning by some very excited but harmless baby dogs, is now terrified of birds and dogs. While playing in the park today, a large bird headed towards us quietly, leading her to give up her fun and she ran and hid in a basement of the playground.
Leo asked her what she was doing and she told him “I’m hiding because I'm afraid of birds”, at which point he could have just shrugged(耸肩) and walked away. Instead, he got down on her level and explained that, actually, birds are just as afraid of her as she is as them. When she still looked doubtful, he jumped up and walked to the bird, shouting loudly as it ran away from him, “See! It is running away! Don't be afraid!”
He then cheated her out of the basement and, although she couldn't answer all his questions because of her age and ability, continued to include her in his and his sister's games around the play

Today we talk about pointless, useless actions. And we have a very descriptive expression to help us do that. For this expression, let's go to the beach!
For a beach trip, we bring several things that can make the trip more enjoyable. For example, a beach towel makes sitting on the sand more comfortable. Some people choose to bring a beach chair. And a beach umbrella protects you from the sun's powerful rays. Swimming in the ocean can really make you hungry. So many people bring a cooler for food and drinks.
Making sandcastles on the beach is a fun activity. So, bringing sand-digging tools—like a shovel—and a bucket is a good idea. But you do not need to bring the sand. Most beaches have a lot of that already! And that brings us to today’s expression: “bringing sand to the beach.”
“Bringing sand to the beach” describes actions that are pointless and unnecessary. The actions are futile. This means serving no purpose.
To bring sand to the beach can also mean overkill. Overkill means to do or have more than is necessary or useful. Often when using this expression, we say “like.” For example, bringing flowers to the opening of a flower store is like bringing sand to the beach.
We usually use “like bringing sand to the beach” when bringing something to a place is unnecessary. But you can also say the same idea with different objects and places. For example, I could also say it is “like bringing a sandwich to a restaurant.” With this example, the meaning goes one step further. It also means that what you are bringing(the sandwich) is of lesser quality than what you would find at the place (the restaurant).

More scientists are exploring cellular senescence(衰老)—a state in which cells(细胞)no longer divide. Senescent cells, which build up in older bodies, have a link to age-related conditions such as dementia(痴呆) disease.
Scientists are exploring drugs that treat senescent cells. But the most promising tool against the bad effects of senescent cells, experts say, is exercise.
Today, LeBrasseur, who directs a center on aging at Mayo, says exercise is “the most promising tool that we have” for good health in late life, and its power spreads to our cells. Research suggests exercise prevents the buildup of senescent cells, helping the immune(免疫的)system clear them and fight the cell damage that can affect aging.
Last year, LeBrasseur led a study that provided the first sign in humans that exercise greatly affected senescence. It cut signs in the bloodstream of the effects of senescent cells in the body.
After a 12-week exercise program, researchers found that older adults had cut signs of senescence and improved body strength, physical ability and reported health. A recent study collects even more facts—in animals and humans—for exercise as a treatment to fight against senescence cells.
While such studies are not well-known outside scientific circles, many older adults connect exercise with youthfulness. Farmer Mike Gale,81, put in a track and field throwing circle on his large farm in California. He and some of his friends throw the discus(铁饼) and use other exercise equipment. “I'd like to be competing in my 90s,”Gale says. “Why not ”
95-year-old Richard Soller says exercise keeps him fit enough to deal with what comes his way—including the discovery that his wife of 62 years had developed dementia. Sometime in 1957, Annie, my grandma, had both her kids. My mom was her firstborn followed by my uncle soon after. Grandma decided to look for a brave business journey in coffee industry where no women held any position. She didn't like the fact that Grandpa had to work for some other institution to make a living. So she moved a few 100kms away from where Grandpa used to live and bought a piece of land with 2 kids to support to start her own coffee farm.
As my mom and uncle grew and were school going in the nearby village, this brave woman,my Grandma Annie, worked endlessly in the land planting one coffee plant after another. By the time my mom and uncle were in Grade 2, she had planted about 12 acres of coffee plants all alone.
This journey was not easy; Grandpa was home only on Saturdays and Sundays when he had leave from work. She barely slept through the nights from 1957 until 1963 guarding her land, her resources and children. Finally, Grandpa gave up his job and came to be the support both emotionally and physically to my grandmother Annie.
She realized she had created a large farm now and couldn't just use herself and her kids to work to maintain and grow the land. So, by the time my mom and uncle were in Grade 5, Grandma decided the education in village school wasn't good enough to her kids and sent them off to Mangalore to study and enjoy a town life at the least with their cousins.
Sometime in 1965;Grandma decided to go shopping for labour. She picked up entire families to work for the farm, often driving the tractor on her own every morning to bring labour to her farm before 7:30 am. As age caught on, it was difficult to pick up and drop labourers every morning and every evening.
