课例简介
This unit is around talking about past events. Students learn about the usage of the past progress tense by reviewing what they were doing when COVID-19 broke out. This is the first period of Unit5 and it focuses on students’ listening and speaking skills. Students will learn to use the past progressive tense to talk about what people were doing at a time in the past.

The material is from: GO for it, PEP, Grade8, Unit5. It’s a a listening and speaking class.This unit is around talking about past events. This is the first period of Unit5 and it focuses on students’ listening and speaking skills.
教学对象分析
The target students are mix-level students. Most of them like learning English. They are confidence in speaking English and active in class. And they have learned the present progressive tense.
教学目标分析
1. Language competence: (1) Master new words: suddenly, rainstorm, alarm, pick up, put up the tents, go off… (2) Be able to use the past progressive tense to talk about what people were doing at a time in the past. 2. Thinking capacity: Improve critical thinking ability by answering questions. Raise the student independence analysis, solve problem and induce the ability of the summary. 3. Cultural awareness: Understand the value Chinese people place on life. 4. Learning ability: Be able to review and summarize the target language. Enhance self-learning and cooperative learning ability.

技术支持的教学设计思路
本课以如何成为一名记者为主线展开教学，设计背景是3月27日肇庆市高要区爆发新冠疫情，学生通过描述那时自己和他人正在做什么，来学习使用过去进行时。 一、运用试听教学法，创设有效的学习情景。本课通过在“肇庆发布”、“端州发布”等微信公众号上搜索抗疫题材的资源，利用美图秀秀进行图片编辑，利用狸窝视频剪辑器、编辑星等进行视频剪辑，进行课堂的导入和对话练习。 二、设计贴近学生生活的任务，激发学生参与热情。课程内容选择本市的视频资源，引发学生的思考与回顾。 三、运用自评与他评结合。在特定课堂活动过后，均设置评价项目，使学生对自己的听课成效有及时的理解。

教学反思
人教版八年级下册Unit 5 是通过构建过去场景中正在发生的各种情况引导学生学习并使用过去进行时。Section A (1a-2d)是一节听说课，也是本单元的第一节课。本节课围绕最近在肇庆市高要区爆发的新冠疫情这个时事热点展开教学，学生对此较为熟悉，更容易回忆。 在课件设计中，利用信息技术手段，在“肇庆发布”、“端州发布”等微信公众号上搜索抗疫题材的资源，利用美图秀秀进行图片编辑，利用狸窝视频剪辑器、编辑星等进行视频剪辑。通过课堂活动均通过以听说为核心的任务链呈现目标语言What were you doing when the rainstorm came I was (doing...)。通过Lead in, Pre-listening, While-listening, Post-listening等环节，学习和操练本课目标语言，完成最基本的语言输出。 在教学创新方面，本课的主线是如何成为一名记者。为激发学生的学习热情，为学生制作了记者证和金银铜牌，学生在学习并掌握一个课堂内容后，将获得升级机会。学生为此兴趣大增，取得了良好的教学效果。
