China's first panda-themed tourist train, known as the “panda train”, left Chengdu Railway Station in Sichuan's provincial capital for Zunyi in neighboring Guizhou on Sunday night. The train is decorated with giant panda images, and attendants carry panda toys and passengers can even try panda-shaped food. The “panda train” started operation on March 28,2021. It serves on fixed lines and customized lines to connect tourist attractions in Sichuan and neighboring provinces.
In the future, the train will operate on a number of rail lines linking Chengdu and Chongqing, Chongqing and Guiyang, Shanghai and Kunming in Sichuan, Guizhou and Chongqing.
Ticket offer:
The three-day trip costs 1,280 yuan, including food, accommodation and entrance tickets to scenic spots in Guizhou.
Facilities:
The train, which doubles as a mobile star-rated hotel, can accommodate 252 passengers. It has a dining room, bar, karaoke room, dance hall and mahjong room. The 12 cars have individual rooms for two or four passengers, and each room has a washroom with a toilet and shower facilities.

There's an old joke that an airplane passenger bound for Chengdu can sleep soundly, only to be woken by the clicking of mahjong tiles(麻将牌) in the city before landing. In fact, Chengdu is better known for its love of mahjong than its other attractions, such as the giant panda, Sichuan Opera and Sichuan cuisine, according to an online survey conducted by two decades ago.

The home of the future won’t be completely different and we will be living in houses and flats just as we do today. But people will want to shape their homes to match their dreams. No two homes will be the same. People will be able to buy “house kits” containing a basic house structure, with movable walls, doors and windows. They will put together the different parts to create the home they want.
Many jobs that we do today will disappear, others will still exist but will change and new jobs will be created. Skilled workers such as builders, gardeners and electricians won’t disappear because machines can’t replace them. Teachers will still exist because students need human contact. But they will be using modern technology in class more and students will be working more from home. The medical technology revolution and space travel will create new jobs which we can only imagine today.
Space holidays will develop in the future, but these holidays won’t be for everyone because they won’t be cheap. Short space trips will develop first, then space hotels will orbit the earth where it will be possible to have a longer vacation. By the end of the next century, there will be holiday centers on the moon with leisure facilities for families.
Paper won’t exist in the future. Instead, there will be e-paper which people will be able to use over and over again. This will develop in order to save natural resources. E-newspapers and e-magazines will replace traditional newspapers and magazines and we will download information and news articles from the Internet every day onto our reusable paper.
The laws of physics tell us that the earth is going to disappear sometime in the future. This isn’t going to happen tomorrow but scientists predict that it will happen in five billion years when our sun explodes (爆炸). We will have to explore the universe and find another home. At some point in the distant future, either we stay on the earth and die with it, or we leave and move to another planet. There won’t be any other choice.
24. What will homes of the future be like

26. Why will e-paper replace traditional paper
A. Because it won’t waste natural resource.
B. Because young people like it.
C. Because it will be cheaper to produce.
D. Because it will be convenient to carry.
27. We will have to move to another planet______.
A. if we want to live a better life
B. if we want to save the human race
C. when the earth explodes
D. when the earth is too crowded to live on

One summer day as I was heading to the teaching building, I heard someone call my name. I turned around and saw Philip, a counselor (顾问) at our admissions office, standing with another young man. Philip introduced me to him, Stephen, and reminded me that Stephen would be taking one of my classes.
Stephen looked at me. With a somewhat painful expression, he asked if my class was going to be hard and if he would be able to pass. I introduced all the things that he would be expected to learn. As we talked, I saw Stephen’s eyes getting big with fear.
I told him to do all of his assignments, and to hand them in on time. Rather than being overwhelmed (压倒) by all of the work, I told him the most successful students made a master calendar of all the assignments so they could plan their workload.
As the fall semester went on, I learned more of Stephen’s story. It had taken him longer to finish the assignments than most young people. Family members, including his mother, kept reminding him that he was a failure. But he kept at it and didn’t take them to heart. He told me that before coming to our college, no one believed he could manage it.
Stephen didn’t become an A student. Still, he managed to pass most of his courses by being in class every day, turning in all of his assignments on time and breaking down his studying into bite-sized parts. By passing course after course, he began to gain a measure of self-esteem.
On his graduation day, he walked up to me, and said, “Thank you.”
28.What can we learn about the author according to the passage

Facial recognition cameras are everywhere, including in your smartphone. Many people rely on this technology to unlock their phones, open doors or make quick payments, but there is a problem: Everyone is wearing a mask. What a hassle!
Now, tech companies have updated their software. Facial recognition technology can now identify people even if they are wearing a mask.Beijing-based tech company Hanwang has announced a piece of software which can correctly recognize 95 percent of people wearing masks, Engineering & Technology (E & T) reported. What's the secret It's all about your eyes.
Marios Savvides, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University, US, studies facial recognition technology. “As we get older,” he said, “our faces change shape, but not the area around our eyes. It stays the same—even if we put on weight.”
Another company has also been working on this kind of software. Tech5 has AI that measures the shape of your face. It also scans your iris (the colored part of your eyes). Tech5 hopes to ignore all of the face below the nose.
Facial recognition software is about more than just unlocking your phone. It's about public safety. Contact-free verification(验证) has become extremely important due to COVID-19. More than that, facial recognition can be used to fight crime(犯罪). “It can detect crime suspects,” said Huang Lei, Hanwang's president. Hanwang's technology is used by police in high-security settings. This means places like government buildings, subway stations and airports. Huang admits one big weakness of this new technology: It fails when people wear both masks and sunglasses. “In this situation, all of the key facial information is lost, but I am convinced that we can overcome the weakness in the future,” said Huang.

Forging a 5G future
The future in sci-fi movies seems so close, yet so far away. Delightfully, 5G technology makes that future look easily achievable. Schools, hospitals, transportation, factories—even our homes will soon use this powerful wireless network. Last year, China started testing 5G mobile networks in its several cities. So what is 5G It’s the latest generation of cellular (蜂窝状的) network technology. 36
5G’s benefits mainly come from speed and connectivity. 37 People will be able to use the Internet at a much greater speed than before. Imagine being able to download an entire movie in just a few seconds! That’s how fast 5G will be.
38 For example, one of the biggest problems with developing driverless cars is the delay between sending a signal and receiving it. Driverless cars must be able to react instantly to sudden changes in their environment, such as a dog running across the road. This will require these cars to send and receive huge amounts of data within milliseconds. 39 It will also allow doctors to perform operations remotely, using robots. The robots will respond more quickly to the doctors’ movements.
So what about 5G’s connectivity 40 . Imagine having a smart home that automatically turns the lights on when you open your front door.
“New things become possible when you can move information at a massive scale, ” Gordon Smith, CEO of telecom equipment reseller Sagent, told The Telegraph. “5G becomes the great enabler. ”
No matter where it is implemented, it looks like 5G will bring us a more exciting and convenient future.
A. 5G will make this possible.
B. Such speed helps other technologies, too.
C. It connects people’s lives in various ways.
D. The advantage of higher speeds is obvious.
E. We may develop “smart” environments with it.
F. With 5G, people can conveniently solve many problems.
G. It is faster and more stable than 4G, the previous generation.

Old Man Donovan was a mean man who hated children. He threw rocks at them and even shot at them with a shotgun. At least that's what we had heard.
His small farm bordered our neighborhood where my younger sister, Leigh Ann, and I lived when we were growing up. His farm was long, narrow, and quaint. It held two treasures. One was his beautiful fruit.
There were many varieties of fruit: pears, apples, and lots more I just can't think of. The fruit naturally drew the children to his land. It made them into thieves. But my sister and I didn't dare to take his fruit because of the horrible rumors we had heard about Old Man Donovan.
One summer day, we were playing in a nearby field. It was time to head back home. My sister and I were feeling very daring that day. There was a short cut to our house that went through the Donovan farm. We thought he wouldn't be able to see us run across his property around the luscious fruit trees. We were almost through the farm when we heard, “Hey, girl!" in a gruff, low voice. We stopped dead in our tracks! There we were, face to face with Old Man Donovan. Our knees were shaking. We had visions of rocks pounding our bodies and bullets piercing our hearts.
“Come here," he said, reaching up to one of his apple trees. Still shaking, we went over to him. He held out several ripe, juicy, red apples. “Take these home,” he commanded. We took the apples with surprised hearts and ran all the way home. Of course, Leigh Ann and I ate the apples.
As time went on, we often went through Old Man Donovan's farm, and he kept on giving us more luscious fruit. One day, we stopped by to see him when he was on his front porch. We talked to him for hours. While he was talking, we realized that we had found the other hidden treasure: the sweet, kind heart hidden behind his gruff voice. Soon, he was one of our favorite people to talk to. Unfortunately, his family never seemed to enjoy our company. They never smiled or welcomed us in.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1: Every summer, we would visit Mr. Donovan and talk to him. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Paragraph 2: The next winter, word got around that Old Man Donowan had died. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
