Liu Ming did not know what to expect when he volunteered for the Special Olympics World Summer Games.
当刘明准备为2007年10月在上海举行的夏季特奥会做志愿者时，他不知道能期待什么。
1）expect sth v. 意为“期盼，等待”，
2）expect (sb) to do sth表示“期待(某人)去做某事”。如：
我期盼得到一份好的生日礼物。I expect to get a nice birthday present.
你期盼他教你英语吗？Do you expect him to teach you English
2. volunteer for the Special Olympics World Games 为夏季特奥会做志愿者
动词：1) volunteer for sth. 为…做志愿者
2) volunteer to do sth. ... 志愿做……；主动做……
没有人主动去清理鸡舍。No one volunteered to clean the henhouse.
名词：volunteer n. 义务工作者；志愿者
Schools need volunteers to help children to read. 学校需要义务工作者帮助儿童阅读。
