Step 1 Greeting and Leading in
Show two pictures about two boys on the blackboard before class.
T：Here are two pictures of my friends. One is Sam and the other is Tony. Now watch them for two minutes. And tell me what they look like.
S1：Sam is tall. Tony is short.
S2：Sam is fat. Tony is thin.
S3：Sam is boy. Tony is boy, too.
T：Great! They are both boys. Now go on.
S4：Sam is serious but Tony friendly.
S5：Sam likes sports. Tony likes reading.
T：Yes, but how do you know
S6：I see Sam playing basketball. And Tony is standing with a book.
T：Yes, your guess is right.
Step 2 Self Check Part 1
T：Do you have a friend who is similar to you, or a friend who is quite different from you Think about two of them. Make notes of them. I will ask someone to share his/her opinion.

直接在形容词或副词后加-er
tall—taller short—shorter hard—harder
以不发音的e结尾的形容词直接在其后加-r
nice—nicer large —larger white—whiter
3.以重读闭音节结尾并且末尾只有一个辅音字母，应先双写这个辅音字母再加-er.
big—bigger thin—thinner fat—fatter
4.以“辅音字母+y”结尾的，先改“y”为“i”，再加-er。
happy—happier early—earlier
5. 多音节和部分双音节形容词在其前面加more。以形容词+ly构成的副词前加more
outgoing—more outgoing clearly---more clearly

Attention：Use comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs + than to express the different ways. Use “as... as...〞and be similar to ...to express the similar ways.
Step 5 Summary
T：We have learned how to use comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs, and how to use “as...as...〞 to describe persons’similarities.
Step 6 Write a passage about your friends. Write down the ways in which you are similar, and the ways in which you are different.
I have a best friend. Her name is Mary. We both like playing sports. I am as tall as her. I run as fast as her.But we also have some differences. I am fatter than her. She is more outgoing than me. And she jumps higher than me. I speak more loudly than her.
