<2> Just a little, please. 请稍加一点儿。
a little相当于some, 意为“一些，一点”，用于修饰不可数名词。如：
Put just a little salt in the soup. 汤里搁点儿盐花儿。
a few 相当于some或several, 意为“少许，几个”，用于修饰可数名词。
I'm going away for a few days. 我要离开几天。
<3> No, less than that. 不，再少一些。
less是little的比较级， less than 表示“少于，低于，不足”。
He ran the mile in less than four minutes. 他用了不到四分钟就跑完一英里。
The game took her less than an hour to finish 她没用一个小时就拿下了这场比赛。
本句中的that代指上文中的 two teaspoonfuls。
<4> One and a half teaspoonfuls , please. 请放一勺半。
在英语中，比1大的东西即使比2小也要用复数形式。如：
One and a half hours are allowed for the exam. 考试时间为一个半小时。
He has worked here for one and a half years. 他已经在这里工作一年半了。
teaspoonful是名词teaspoon加上后缀-ful形成的派生词，表示一满茶匙。类似的单词还有：
a handful of rice 一把米 a mouthful of water一大口水

<5> I’m afraid it’s empty. 恐怕盒子是空的。
I’m afraid...后接宾语从句，意为“恐怕......”。
I’m afraid I can’t help you with that. 这我恐怕就爱莫能助了。
I’m afraid that this dress doesn’t suit me. 恐怕这条裙子不太适合我。
afraid意为“害怕，畏惧”，其他常见用法有：
be afraid of sth./ sb. 害怕某人/ 某物
I am afraid of snakes. 我害怕蛇。
be afraid to do sth. 害怕作某事
To tell you the truth, I was afraid to see him 坦白说，我害怕见他。
<6> What a pity! 真遗憾！
这是一个感叹句。英语中，常用“What a/ an +可数名词单数！”或“What +可数名词复数/ 不可数名词！”结构表示感叹。
