“Art is long, life is short,” read a statement (声明) on March 28 when Japanese composer (作曲家) and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away at the age of 71.
★ . He began studying composition at 11 and majored in (主修) music in college. He was always lost to sounds around him. When he was a high school student in Tokyo, he would ride the train and enjoy himself by listening to the sounds it made.
In 1978, he formed a music group called Yellow Magic Orchestra. He made songs that influenced early hip-hop and techno.
But what made Sakamoto world-famous was his film music. In 1983, he composed the music for the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and acted in it as well. His film score for The Last Emperor in 1987, won him an Oscar, a Grammy, and a Golden Globe.
Sakamoto always paid close attention to the real world and human society. In 2020, he gave a nonprofit(公益的) music performance for Wuhan people who were fighting the pandemic(疫情). He used Chinese style instruments made in Wuhan to bring people strength and courage.
He also spoke against unclear power (核能) following the 2011 Fukushima disaster(灾难). When visiting the disaster area, he found a water-damaged (损坏的) piano. He repaired it and made it into a work of art by adding sensors (传感器) to the keys. The instrument then became a machine that made sounds from seismic data(地震数据) collected around the world. According to online database World Register of Marine Species, there are 409,543 named kinds in the sea. On a fun website called The Deep Sea (https://neal.fun/deep-sea/), you can move down to see the different animals and plant life that live at different depths of the sea. Take a look at some of the sea animals below.
It’s cute, almost pink, and about twice as long as a pencil. And it is the deepest fish ever found.
In the ocean south of Japan, scientists from the University of Western Australia found snailfish swimming at a depth of 8,336 meters. That’s about the height of Mount Qomolangma! The finding has broken the record for the deepest point from which fish have been seen.
“We have spent over 15 years researching these deep snailfish; the biggest depth they can survive is truly surprising,” Professor Alan Jamieson from the research team said in the news.
In the place where the snailfish live, the pressure (压力) is 1,000 times greater than that at sea level. To take high pressure, the fish grows a soft skeleton (骨骼). It is also difficult to find food in the deep sea. So the snailfish have a gelatinous (凝胶状的) body without scales (鳞片). This helps the fish cut down the energy used when swimming.
“They have nearly cut off everything that a fish has that is kind of unnecessary,” said Jamieson. However, the fish’s sticky (黏的) skin is also very fragile (脆弱的). They would quickly melt (融化) if brought to the surface!
66. What did scientists find about snailfish

B. It is the cutest fish they’ve ever seen.

D. It was at the deepest point at which fish have been found.
67. How do snailfish get used to their living environment
A. They have their own special way to hunt for food in the deep sea.
B. Their hard skeleton can take high pressures.
C. They have gelatinous scales that help them swim quickly.
D. Their special body structure saves energy and can bear high pressure.
68.The underlined word “survive” in paragraph 4 means “___________”.
A. keep on living B. stop living C. die out D. die from
69. From the last paragraph, we can infer (推断) that __________.

“Art is long, life is short,” read a statement (声明 ) on March 28 when Japanese composer (作曲
家) and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away at the age of 71.
★ . He began studying composition at 11 and majored in (主修) music in college.
He was always lost to sounds around him. When he was a high school student in Tokyo, he would ride
the train and enjoy himself by listening to the sounds it made.
In 1978, he formed a music group called Yellow Magic Orchestra. He made songs that influenced
early hip-hop and techno.
But what made Sakamoto world-famous was his film music. In 1983, he composed the music for
the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence and acted in it as well. His film score for The Last Emperor
in 1987, won him an Oscar, a Grammy, and a Golden Globe.
Sakamoto always paid close attention to the real world and human society. In 2020, he gave a
nonprofit(公益的) music performance for Wuhan people who were fighting the pandemic(疫情). He
used Chinese style instruments made in Wuhan to bring people strength and courage.
He also spoke against unclear power (核能) following the 2011 Fukushima disaster(灾难). When
visiting the disaster area, he found a water-damaged (损坏的) piano. He repaired it and made it into a
work of art by adding sensors (传感器) to the keys. The instrument then became a machine that made
sounds from seismic data(地震数据) collected around the world. This was his way of reminding people
to never forget the disaster.

According to online database World Register of Marine Species, there are 409,543 named kinds
in the sea. On a fun website called The Deep Sea (https://neal.fun/deep-sea/), you can move down to
see the different animals and plant life that live at different depths of the sea. Take a look at some of
the sea animals below.
It’s cute, almost pink, and about twice as long as a pencil. And it is the deepest fish ever found.
In the ocean south of Japan, scientists from the University of Western Australia found snailfish
swimming at a depth of 8,336 meters. That’s about the height of Mount Qomolangma! The finding has
broken the record for the deepest point from which fish have been seen.
“We have spent over 15 years researching these deep snailfish; the biggest depth they can survive is
truly surprising,” Professor Alan Jamieson from the research team said in the news.
In the place where the snailfish live, the pressure (压力) is 1,000 times greater than that at sea level.
To take high pressure, the fish grows a soft skeleton (骨骼). It is also difficult to find food in the deep
sea. So the snailfish have a gelatinous (凝胶状的) body without scales (鳞片). This helps the fish cut
down the energy used when swimming.
“They have nearly cut off everything that a fish has that is kind of unnecessary,” said Jamieson.
However, the fish’s sticky (黏的) skin is also very fragile (脆弱的). They would quickly melt (融化)
if brought to the surface!
66. What did scientists find about snailfish
A. It is a kind of fish that looks like a pencil.
B. It is the cutest fish they’ve ever seen.
C. It has something to do with snails.

A. the snailfish can live in many different environments

D. it is easy for scientists to do experiments on the snailfish
