The Old Man and the Sea 是海明威著名的代表作之一，1951年创作于古巴。故事讲述了古巴老渔夫桑提亚哥在海上独自钓到一条巨大的马林鱼并与之周旋、搏斗，历经三天最终捕获大鱼，在返航途中却又遭受鲨鱼袭击的经历。故事弘扬了人类迎接挑战及勇敢面对失败的无畏气概。

why引导的从句作know的宾语，需用陈述句语序。why在此作连词，意为“为什么”。

1.be sure 常用句型：
be sure about sth.“确信某事”
be sure about doing sth.“确信做某事, 对做某事有把握”。
be sure + that从句，意为“肯定……；有把握……”, 主句的主语一定是人,可以替换为It is certain + that从句。
2.make sure意为“确保，查明”，其后可跟that(可省略)引导的宾语从句、动词不定式或of短语。

注意：
1.be going to表示主语有意图、有计划、有准备做某事，所表达的动作基本上会实现。
We are going to have a football match next Sunday.
下周日我们打算进行一场足球赛。
2.表示主语根据当前的情况作出的预测,通常是有迹象表明某事即将要发生，表达说话人较肯定的判断，指即将发生或肯定要发生的事，常用于I’m sure, I’m afraid或I think等后面。

看那些乌云！恐怕要下雨了。
3.be going to与be doing都可表示将来要发生的动作，但是表示位置移动的动词，如go, come, leave, fly, arrive等， 一般不用be going to结构，而多用“be +doing”表示将要发生的动作。
She is leaving for Shanghai. 她将动身前往上海。
4.be going to和there be句型连用时，be going to后应用
be 动词原形，不用have，即There is /are going to be...
There is going to be a heavy snow tomorrow.
