课型：阅读课主题语境：人与自我-个人成长
教学目标：At the end of the class, students can be able to:
1. know the background of the story.
2. understand the plot and the author’s attitude.
3. realize how to get developing ideas about the novel.
教学重点：
在读懂文章情节的基础上对小说进行深入思考。
教学难点：
在读后思考中形成正确的价值观。
重难点的突破：
利用小组合作探究的方法，设置几个由浅入深的问题，逐步引导学生形成自己的价值观。
教学步骤：
Leading-in： show a poster of the film The Little Prince, read a line of growing up: I’ll grow up, but I’ll never be a grown-up like you! This line didn’t appear in the novel. So film is not always the same with novel. And novel has its unique charm. How to enjoy a novel
设计意图：导入话题：如何欣赏小说，激发学生的学习兴趣。
Step 1：Before-reading. Read for the background.

设计意图：通过阅读介绍部分获取背景信息，为更好的理解小说打下基础。
Step 2: While-reading:
I. Read for the plot.
1.Read the novel quickly and put the following sentences in the right order._________________
A. I showed my drawing to the grown-ups, but they saw it as a hat.
B. I saw a picture and succeeded in drawing it.
C. I had been disheartened so I chose another profession.
D. I made another drawing but the grown- ups advised me to learn.
E. I hold an attitude towards the grown- ups and I would never talk about my drawings.
设计意图：为了更好的理解故事情节，也为下一步分析故事的叙事顺序埋下伏笔。
2.What’s the narrative order

设计意图：为了帮助学生更好的理解故事类文章的写作结构特点，分析叙事顺序：起因经过结果影响。
3.Try to retell the plot according to the outline.
设计意图：通过让学生用自己的话来复述，帮助学生更好的熟悉课文，理解文章的故事情节。
II．Read for the author’s attitude.
Choose the author’s attitude towards grown-ups and find evidence to support your choice. Underline your evidence.
1 Grown-ups are more practical(实际的) than children. They want to teach children knowledge that will be useful in the future.
2 Grown-ups are no better than children. They lack imagination(想象力) and only care about matters of consequence.(重要的事情)
3 Grown-ups are more knowledgeable(博学 ) than children. They can understand everything by themselves.
设计意图：为了帮助学生更好地为理解故事情节背后的作者观点，让学生从文本的字里行间推敲出作者的观点。
Step 3：After-reading
I．Think deeply to get developing ideas about the plot.
Think about the following questions:
1. Did the little prince appear in Chapter one
2. What’s the writing aim of Chapter one
3. What will happen next
Will the author find the one who can understand his drawing
Who will the author meet
What will they do
设计意图：读书只读不思考就像吃饭只吃没消化，所以，读完之后的思考也很重要。这一部分设计的是针对故事情节的思考，包括情节走向的预测，学生稍作思考就可以得出思路。
II．Think deeply to get developing ideas about the author’s attitude.
Think about the following questions and discuss them in groups.
1. What did the author do when he held different ideas with grown-ups
2. Do you agree with the author’s attitude towards grown-ups Why
参考表达：I totally agree with the author because......I don’t agree with the author because......In my view,......Personally, I think......is the most important. keep childlike imagination(保持儿时的想象力)；be honest(诚实); avoid quarrels(避免争吵); hold one’s belief(坚持信念)；keep the family atmosphere harmonious / tm sf (r) / /hɑ m ni s/ (保持家庭氛围的和谐); sensible and mature(理智成熟的)
设计意图：这一环节的问题设计是针对小说中作者观点态度，设计了小组讨论，便于学生们在思维碰撞中形成自己的价值观。另外还列出了参考词汇降级难度。
