I started using a wheelchair (轮椅) when I was a little kid. In primary school, I never felt different or alone. I did many activities. I even danced in my wheelchair and won prizes. However, in my heart I still hoped that I could walk like other kids.
One day my parents told me that an operation might help make my dream come true. When I went into the operating room, I was hopeful. I closed my eyes, and the world changed around me. After my operation, I was in so much pain that I got really sad. I even wanted to give up my lifelong dream — walking.
Later I went to an inpatient rehabilitation centre (住院病人康复中心), along with my mum. At first, I didn’t like it there. My life was like a river that never stops, with all kinds of rehabilitation exercises and doctor visits. There was so much I couldn’t do, like playing at the nearby playground when my dad and brother visited. And it was hard to make friends. As my body healed, things began to improve.
Now, I’ve made big progress, like being able to stand for five minutes. I feel hopeful again and am dreaming big — I want to be a role model (榜样) for disabled kids to follow. I also joined in the Just Say Hi, an activity to encourage everyone not to be afraid to say hello to disabled people.
This experience has changed me a lot. It made me as strong as diamonds (钻石) and my dreams as high as Qomolangma. Here I just want to use my story to share the following message: stay strong, never give up, and if you can dream it, you can do it.

We left for Singapore by air. Many places in Singapore really surprised us. First, we visited Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park. Both of the places are very large and many animals live there. So we spent a whole day seeing all of the animals. However, the most interesting event was the Bird Show in Jurong Bird Park, We enjoyed the shows of the birds a lot. The workers had trained the birds carefully and patiently for a long time so that they could dance, sing and even play basketball. At the end of the show, they sent the visitors a message in order to raise their awareness (意识) of protecting birds.
Second, after spending a week in relaxing and visiting some vacation spots (景点) in Singapore, my sister and I decided to attend a short-term English course because English is the official language in Singapore and we thought we would improve our English quickly in this way. English was the only common language in this class, so all students there had to speak English during the lessons.
The trip in Singapore was truly a nice one in my life. During the trip, I learned a lot about other countries’ lives and other people’s thoughts and I also improved my English.
