2. Have students decide what can be included when talking about one’s
favourite film.
Awards/Achievements, Scenes, Stunts, Special effects, Soundtrack, Shooting
locations, Storyline/Plot, etc.
3. Have students work in groups and talk about their favourite films.
4. Have students finish B2 on page 5.
5. Have students learn about metaphor.
(1) Have students read “Learn this” on page 5 to know what a metaphor is.
(2) Have students find an example of metaphor in the lecture and make an
explanation.
Just as the poor passengers on the real Titanic saw the tip of the iceberg,
what we see on the cinema screen is just the tip of the huge iceberg of

A good film-making team is a sophisticated machine. There are many different
parts and they all need to work together smoothly for the film to be a success.
Even the parts you cannot see are important in some way.

No. I don’t really like to see too much CGI in films. I think having a good
storyline is the most important thing for a film, and sometimes technology can
get in the way.
2. Have students comment on the common occurrence of leaving the cinema
without paying attention to the credits.
It is common to see a lot of people leaving the cinema without paying enough
attention to the credits. Do you think this is proper behaviour Why or why
not
Personally, I don’t believe it is polite behaviour. As mentioned in the
lecture, behind the scenes are many people who have put a lot of effort into
making the film. If we leave the cinema without seeing the credits, their hard
work remains unacknowledged. Furthermore, those who work behind the scenes
deserve our respect, and seeing the credits is one way of showing our respect.
Paying attention to the final credits also enables audiences to get other
information about the film, such as the information about its location or more
details related to the film’s soundtrack.
