Weeks ago, I witnessed the quarrel between my two roommates. It shocked me that the two good friends could get so angry over a trifling matter. On weekend morning when I was washing my face in the bathroom, I suddenly heard Ann and Sue shouting at each other. I hurried to see what had happened. It turned out that the noise of Sue closing a door had woken Ann, whose bed is just beside the door. Ann thought Sue had deliberately slammed the door. Sue didn’t think she had done anything wrong and thought

Ann was making trouble out of nothing. So, their argument became a trigger for a bigger quarrel. Although they were later persuaded to stop quarreling, neither of them would like to apologise to the other.
The argument led me to think a lot about dormitory harmony. If either Ann or Sue could have been a little more tolerant, or found a better way to express herself, this quarrel might easily have been avoided. There’s no doubt that a harmonious dormitory benefits everyone.

Sue approached Ann, her head bowed. In a soft and sincere voice, she said, “I’m so sorry that I closed the door so heavily and woke you.” Hearing her words, Ann stood up, and also made an apology. “I know you didn’t do it on purpose. No more arguing. It’s time to let it go.” With these words, the two friends hugged each other tightly and smiles appeared on their faces again, a little bit at first, and then bigger and bigger.
