Analysis of the learning materials
In this class, we’ll focus on Listening and speaking, the first important part in Book 1 Unit 3. Inviting a friend to a sports event is the topic, closely related to their daily life.
Analysis of the students
Grade one Senior one students are Curious and enthusiastic, but as for English, they are lacking in useful listening skills as well as afraid of speaking English boldly.
learning objectives
Based on the analyses above, the teaching objectives are as follows. At the end of the class, Ss will be able to:
learn the names of sports events and talk about them.
use proper language to invite and respond to an invitation.
master some useful listening and speaking skills.
raise the awareness of taking exercise and know more about sportsmanship.
Key and Difficult points
a. Key points
(1) To help the Ss to improve their listening ability and spoken English.
(2) To develop the Ss’ communicating abilities.
b. Difficult points
Get the correct answer through the numbers.
Get Ss to overcome their shyness by expressing themselves using what they’ve learned.
Teaching Aids and Methods
Blackboard and the multimedia will be used. In addition, the following methods will be included, situational teaching method, communicative teaching method, Audio-visual teaching method and Task-based teaching method.
Teaching procedures
Five steps are included for this part.
Step 1 Lead in and Pre-listening
Lead in: Liugenghong’s aerobics and GIFs for nine different sports events.
【Purpose】
(1) Introduce the topic
(2) to know more sports events
(3) to motivate Ss’ enthusiasm in class
Pre-listening: Show the posters of four kinds of sports events and my pictures once taking part in the Marathon and Badminton match.
【Purpose】
(1) to encourage Ss to speak freely by interviewing
(2) to make the teacher-students relationship closer
(3) to move to the listening part.
