promise作动词，意为“许诺;承诺”。常用于以下结构：
⑴ promise (not) to do sth. “许诺(不)做某事”
如：他的父亲许诺给他买一辆新自行车。
His father promised to buy a new bike for him.
⑵ promise sb. sth. “许诺某人某物”
如：我的妈妈答应给我买一架钢琴。
My mother promised me a piano.
⑶ promise + that从句 “承诺……”
如：迈克承诺他能按时来这里。
Mike promises that he can come here on time.
【拓展】promise作名词，意为“诺言；承诺”。常用结构：make a promise/promises to sb. 对某人许诺。

(1) at the beginning of……意为“在……开始”，后接表示星期、月份、季节、学期、年等的名词。表示“终于；最后”则用 in the end。at the beginning of 的反义短语为at the end of, 意为“在……结尾/末端”。
如：两个学生在这学期开始时初次见面。

(2) at/in the beginning单独使用时与at first同义，意为“起初；开始时”。
如：开始，我选定了剧本和演员。

(3) from beginning to end 意为“从头到尾”
