China’s high-speed railway network (高速铁路网) has developed
rapidly(迅速地) in the past decade(在过去的十年间). At 9 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2017, the newest fully loaded (满载) high- speed train Fuxing left Beijing for Shanghai(复兴号驶离北京前往上海). It travelled at a speed of 350 km/ h (每小时350千米) and is now one of the fastest trains in the world.
In 2021, another new line opened in northeastern China (中国东北部). The latest smart technology was adopted (采用了最新的智能技术）in building the line, with drones used to collect and analyse data (用无人机搜集和分析数据). It benefits the residents living along the railway (铁路沿线)in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region (京津冀地区). It also plays an important role (发挥着重要作用)in the revitalisation of northeastern China, which used to be an important heavy industry base (重工业基地).
Since the first high-speed line was put to use in 2008 (自2008年第一条高速线路投入使用以来), the network has expanded to 38,000 km (该网络已扩展至3.8万千米), making it the longest in the world. The high-speed train has changed the way people travel as well as their life-styles (高铁改变了人们的旅行和生活方式).
