Which language has the most native speakers in the world—English, Spanish or Chinese Chinese. Q2. How about English Does it have the second largest number of native speakers in the world No, it comes the third, after Spanish. （设计意图：通过复习提问，引导学生回忆Listening and speaking 部分内容） Step 2 Pre-listening（4 minutes） Guess: American English or British English （设计意图：以图片为导向，帮助学生感知英式英语和美式英语词汇的差异，感知英语的多样性，激发学生学习兴趣） Step 3 While-listening（20 minutes） Task 1: Listen to the first part of the talk. What are the different kinds of English mentioned (P.65 Part 1) Task 2: Listen to the second part of the talk. What are the two pairs of words that the student is confused by Tick them in the boxes. Task 3: （1）Look at the pairs of words below. Zhou Wei: You don’t Don’t you like to have somebody tell you if the pants look good or not Martin: Er ... Not really ... Hey, wait, do you mean trousers—what you and I are wearing on our legs right now Zhou Wei: Oh, yes. That's what I mean by pants! That’s American English, isn’t it Martin: Yes, it is! I knew what you meant, by the way. I was just joking with you. Did you know that in British English, “pants” means something very different Zhou Wei: Really So what does it mean Martin: In British English, the word “pants” means underwear. ... Task 2: Choose one or two pairs of words in Activity 3 and make a conversation. The expressions below may help you. Asking for clarification: Do you mean… Does that mean… I’m sorry.
