教材分析 本课教学内容选自教材《英语3基础模块》中Unit1 Festival Around the World 的Reading and Writing，要求学生通过阅读文章，概括文章主题， 梳理文章内容，获取信息细节，感知中外不同的节日文化，增强文化理解能力。在写作板块，要求学生学会使用恰当的词汇和句型补充节日信息，完善节日邀请函，增强语用能力。
学情分析 经过听说内容的学习，学生已能根据情境选用得体的语言发出或接受节日邀请。能够用准确的语言描述节日名称、庆祝活动的时间、地点和活动等相关基本信息。但多数学生对节日类说明文的阅读策略还比较陌生。因而教师需结合学生的学习基础，搭设合适的阶梯，帮助学生运用思维导图，提取、比较文章关键信息，锻炼逻辑思维能力。学生在第一册第五单元Celebrations中详细学习邀请函的写作方法。因此我们将把写作重点放在如何运用恰当的语言对邀请函的内容进行补充。
学习目标 1. summarize the theme of the article, sort out the information and content； 2. identify logics of introducing festivals； 3. introduce festivals and write a festival invitation with appropriate vocabulary and sentence patterns； 4. discuss the similarities and differences between the Spring Festival in China and Christmas in America； 5. learn to respect and love different cultures and enhance their self-confidence of our national culture.
学习重难点 master related words and expressions about activities of different festivals. Use logical and well-organized language to write a festival invitation.

Step 1: Lead in What is the picture about Show some pictures of different festivals and ask some questions: What do you usually do in the Spring Festival Possible answers: have a family reunion dinner/watch yangge performance/go to temple fairs/watch lion dance and visit flower fairs What do you usually do in Christmas Possible answers: decorate homes and gardens/family members get together/sing Christmas songs and express wishes/children put a sock near fireplace What do you know about Sangkran Possible answers: A new year celebration in Tailand/splash water at each other What do you usually do during Halloween Possible answers: people will dress up/children knock on the door for candies Have a guess T: Look at the shadows and guess what festival it is. Possible answer: the Spring Festival/Halloween/Christmas/Sangkran Learn some expressions about the four festivals and learn more about them. 介绍这四种节日的活动，为后续文本阅读做好文化铺垫，也进一步扫除生词等阅读障碍。
Step 2: Pre-reading Discuss and match. Read the sentences and match them with the right festivals. Read and match. 为正文部分做文化铺垫。
Step 3: While-reading Read and decide. Let students quickly read through the passage and the passage type. Read and complete. Use a mind map to help students understand the logic of the passage. T: The passage mainly talks about three different festivals and their celebrations: the Spring Festival, Christmas, Songkran. Please read the passage quickly and find details to finish the mind map. Read and decide. Let students read the passage carefully and then choose T or F.The teacher concludes the types of the wrong description: 增减扩缩、鱼目混珠、颠三倒四、无中生有等。Then invite some students to find out the original sentences. Language points prefer doing sth喜欢做某事/prefer doing A to doing B喜欢做A胜过B/prefer to do sth rather than do sth宁愿做...而不愿做... In+比一天大的单位。Eg:in+年/月/周， On+具体的某一天。Eg:on+Monday. expect to do sth.期盼做某事 prepare...for...为...做准备 one of+最高级+名词（复数）“最...之一” decorate...with用...装饰 fill...with用...装满 Fast read the passage and make clear the text type. Understand the passage by finishing the mind map. Learn to judge the different types of wrong descriptions. Take note of the important language points. 训练学生有意识、有目的地快速找到需要的信息的能力。
Step 4: Post-reading Structure analysis. Analyze the structure of the passage by explaining the three types of text: narration, exposition, argumentation. T: It’s an exposition and mainly introduce three different kinds of festivals, including their meaning and celebrations with some examples. Discuss and compare. Let students discuss the similarities and differences of the Spring Festival and Christmas. Possible answers: Similarities:(1) The most important festival in a year.(2)To have a family reunion dinner.(3)To decorate the house before the festival. Differences: (1)Christmas falls on Dec. 25 (solar calendar) but the Spring Festival falls on the first day of the first lunar month (lunar calendar).(2)The Spring Festival celebrates the 'Start of Spring', While Christmas commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ (a religious holiday). (3)Children in western countries get gifts on Christmas Day where children in China get lucky money from seniors. 3.Read and describe. Give some important clues to let students describe the pictures. Introduce the 3 principles of writing an invitation and ask students to fill in: Para.1 make it clear: Who(Li Lei)/What(join a Christmas party) Para.2 make it convincing: When(at 6 p.m. on Dec.25)/How(decorate the Christmas tree/sing songs and give presents/play games and have traditional food) Para.3 make it courteous: confirmation(Waiting for your reply)/expectation(Hope you can come ) Understand the different types of text and get familiar with the writing characteristics of exposition. Discuss the similarities and differences of the Spring Festival and Christmas. Understand the structure of writing an invitation. 分析文章结构，弄清文本类型，让学生搞清楚说明文的特点和写作手段。让学生描述图片，降低难度，为写作积累相关表达。给出框架图，帮助学生理解邀请的写作结构，降低写作难度，增强写作信心；
