课时教学目标

教学过程
Step 1 Lead-in
Show pictures of different kinds of volunteer activities and let students make sentences to describe the pictures.
Step 2 Work on 1a
1. Ask students to read the sentences and match the sentences with the similar meanings.
2. Check the answers.

Step 3 Work on 1b
1. Choose some students to match the phrasal verbs with the nouns in class.
2. Let students make sentences with the phrases.
3. Choose some students to read their sentences in class.

I was worried that I would run out of money before the end of my vacation.
My brother takes after my father as they are both very quiet people.
I fixed up my bike during the weekend.
My sister and I decided to give away our old clothes to the children’s home.
Step 4 Listening (1c)
1. Ask students to look at the pictures in 1c. Tell them the boy in the pictures is Jimmy.
2. Ask students what Jimmy is doing.
3. Play the recording for students. Students just listen for the first time. Play the recording again and let students number the pictures.
4. Check the answers.

Step 5 Listening (1d)
1. Let students read the sentences in 1d first. Tell students to listen again and judge the sentences True or False.
2. Ask students to correct the wrong expressions according to the listening material.

Step 6 Role-play (1e)
1. Let students work in pairs. Role-play a conversation between Jimmy and the reporter. Use the information in 1c and 1d.
2. Let two students make a model for the students.
3. Invite students to share their own experience as a volunteer.
教学效果评价
通过学习Jimmy 自愿修理旧自行车并无偿捐赠的故事，学生产生探索自身价值的兴趣，学会选择适合自己的志愿服务，养成助人为乐的精神。
作业
完成UNIT 2 课时4 Section B (1a—1e) 的练习。
