Teaching Aims
By the end of this section, students will be able to:
describe the interviewees’ feelings and plans about senior high school life;
illustrate possible opportunities and challenges they will face at senior high school;
adopt a positive attitude towards study at senior high school and enhance their understanding of the importance of senior high school education.

Step1: Leading-in Welcome back to school. Ask them what they had done for the coming senior high school study. The questions may be like this: 1.Are you nervous/excited 2.How will this year be different from last year (more subjects, new classmates\teachers) 3.What do you think of your new school life so far (enjoyable and exciting experience, many interesting subjects, friendly and helpful teachers and classmates) 4.What subjects are you most interested in (Chinese, math, English, politics, history, geography, biology, physics, chemistry) Ask 2-3 students and talk with them. 头脑风暴激起学生的兴趣，让学生意识到高中学习与之前的学习大有不同，对高中学习做好心理准备（3）
Step2: Watch and write 1. Ask the students to read the table on page 1 and understand what they will write. 2. Watch the video and finish the exercise. (Art Club, very excited, English ad Physics) 3.Language points: Spend some time/money on sth Spend some time/money (in) doing sth What do you think of…. =how do you like… =how do you feel about…. Step 3 Exercise Senior high school is a time of learning and discovery. But what and how to learn What about discovery The teacher will lead the students to think of their school life. And at last, present Confucius’s saying: Study without thinking leads to confusion; thinking without study ends in puzzlement. (学而不思则罔，思而不学则殆----孔子) 4. Ask the students to write some sentences about Talk about question 2. (plan my studies, work hard to improve my communication skills, join a club) what will be the biggest opportunity and challenge for you at senior high school (explore a brand new life at senior high school where I could realize my potential, how to balance my studies and hobbies) Present several students’ exercise on the screen and deal with new words and phrases which will appear in the next period.
