Many years ago, I lost all of the hearing in one of my ears suddenly. At first, I thought it was just a small problem and I didn’t notice it. But two days later, after taking the medicine, my hearing still didn’t return. Soon after, my doctor told me I had a brain tumor (瘤). the tests later made me feel tired and I would spend more time alone. That time gave me a chance to work on my favorite hobby—art.
I spent most of my time in college studying art, wishing for a way to mix technology (技术) into my work instead of just using computers as a tool. As a girl who liked drawing, it was impossible for me to do technical work and be an artist.
But later, I took a course in computers and loved computers for the purpose of art. As my body fitted in its new changes after the operation, I began doing small experiments at night: drawing, making models, and studying how computers work. I was afraid if anything happened to my other ear, I wouldn't be able to communicate. I paid more attention to the physical objects. I began building objects to help stop possible disasters that would influence communication in our society. I've met many challenges. They had more to do with what people think of my work and of me than anything technical, however. I was once told people didn't believe that the projects really worked and people don't believe me, either.
Despite this, I've learned many things during this whole process. The most important is that we have to create our own chances. We should try to turn something bad in our life into something good. We have to make time for hard work and trust ourselves. We must never give up.

Peng Jingxuan, a 26-year-old Chinese girl, is now studying in a music university in Paris. While learning abroad, she is also working at spreading traditional Chinese culture to the world. She can often be found on French streets, wearing a silk Han Dynasty-style dress and playing the guzheng to passers-by.
Born in 1995, Peng began to learn the guzheng when she was seven years old. After arriving in France in late 2017, she saw many people do street performances (表演), but few of them knew about Chinese music. So she decided to play the guzheng on the streets.
Peng made her first performance in front of a theater in October, 2018. “I was very nervous at that time, but a lot of people said they enjoyed my performance,” Peng said.
