单 元目 标 一、教材分析 本版块的语篇类型为小说节选,讲述了时隔20年后,好友Jimmy病危,让儿子接Bob出狱,并告诉Bob他永远使自己最珍贵的朋友。同时Bob惊讶地发现Jimmy的儿子和自己的名字一样。这样的结尾让读者体会到友谊的可贵之处。 二、教学目标 在本课学习结束时,学生能够: 1. 引导学生掌握小说类文体的基本特征,使学生能够运用所学为小说续写结尾; 2. 引导学生联系自身实际,进一步深入理解友谊的意义和内涵,辩证地思考情与法的关系,珍惜友谊,树立正确的友情观。
重 点 学会根据小说的主要要素续写小说结尾。
难 点 学会辩证地看待友情和法律的关系,珍惜友谊,树立正确的友谊观。

Activity 1 Lead-in Teacher interviews some students: 1. Who is your best friend in this class 2. What will you two be like after twenty years if you and your best friend can’t see for twenty years Teacher reviews the story of Bob and Jimmy and asks students to think about: what would happen to them after another twenty years Ss answer the questions 1.To arouse the Ss’ interests and draw their attention to the topic of the class
Activity 2 Read for information Teacher asks students to read the ending to Bob and Jimmy’s story and finish the following tasks: 1. How did Bob feel when he finally got out of jail 2. Find out the expressions that describe settings, characters and actions. 3. What kind of ending is this story Ss read the passage and figure out the answers to the questions. 1. Read for the main idea and further experience the O. henry ending. 2. Grasp the elements of the story and sort out the key information of each element through reading.
Activity 3 Discuss and write 1. Teacher asks students to work in pairs to discuss the answers to the questions. (1) What type of ending will be (2) Do you want to introduce other characters If so, who are they (3) Where will the ending take place (4) What has happened to Bob and Jimmy over the past twenty years 2. Teachers asks students to work in pairs to come up with their new ending. Students discuss in groups and answer the questions to help them write the ending. Cooperate with classmates to answer questions and build a framework for writing.
Activity 4 Share & evaluate Teacher asks some groups to share their ending and asks the other groups to evaluate the ending. Students share their ending and evaluate each other’s ending. Guide students to evaluate the writing of their peers.
Activity 5 Consolidation Teacher along with students reviews what they have learned in this class. Students review the lesson together with the teacher. Help students review what they have learned and point out the theme of this lesson and cultivate students’ critical thinking.
Activity 6 Homework The teacher asks students to polish their writing, and pay special attention the three elements to make their story develop smoothly. Students finish their writing after class. Strengthen the application of story elements and strengthen students’ writing ability.
