Thirteen-year-old Kaylee has a lot of friends—532, actually, if you count up her friends online. And she spends a lot of time with them.
But is it possible that Kaylee’s online friendships could be making her lonely That’s what some experts believe. Connecting online is a great way to stay in touch, they say. However, some experts worry that many kids are so busy connecting online that they might be missing out on true friendships.
Could this be true During your parents’ childhoods, connecting with friends usually meant spending time with them in the flesh. Kids played Scrabble around a table, not Words With Friends on their phones. When friends missed each other, they picked up the telephone. Friends might even write letters to each other.
Today, most communication takes place online. A typical teen sends 2,000 texts a month and spends more than 44 hours per week in front of a screen. Much of his time is spent on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
In fact, in many ways, online communication can make friendships stronger. “There’s definitely a positive influence. Kids can stay in constant contact, which means they can share more of their feelings with each other,” says Katie Davis, co-author of the App Generation.
Other experts, however, warn that too much online communication can get in the way of forming deep friendships. “If we are constantly checking in with our virtual worlds, we will have little time for our real-world friendships,” says Rosen, a professor at California State University. Rosen also worries that today’s kids might mistake the “friends” on the social media for true friends in life. However, in tough times, you didn’t need someone to like your picture or share your blogs. You needed someone who will keep your secrets and hold your hand. You would like to talk face to face.
4. What is the purpose of the first paragraph
A. To summarize the text. B. To tell about true friends.
C. To bring up a discussion. D. To encourage online friendship.
5. What does the underline part “in the flesh” mean in Paragraph 3
A. in any case B. in person C. in a hurry D. in advance
6. What is Katie’s attitude towards online communication
A. Positive B. Unconcerned C. Confused D. Worried
7. What view does Rosen hold
A. It’s wise to turn to friends online.
B. It’s easier to develop friendships in reality.
C. Teenagers need focus on real-world friendships.
D. Social media help people stay closely connected.
【答案】4. C 5. B 6. A 7. C
根据第一段“Thirteen-year-old Kaylee has a lot of friends-532, actually, if you count up her online friends. And she spends a lot of time with them.(13岁的Kaylee有很多朋友, 实际上前提是如果你把她的网上的好友都算上的话。并且她会花很多时间和他们在一起。)” 可知,第一段阐述了一种社会现象,其目的应该是提出一个讨论的话题,从而引出下文对于这个话题的讨论。故选C项。
【5题详解】

【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据第五段“In fact,in many ways, online communication can make friendships stronger, There's definitely a positive influence. Kids can stay in constant contact, which means they can share more of their feelings with each other.(事实上,在很多方面,在线交流可以使朋友关系更加牢固,这绝对有积极的影响。孩子们可以经常保持联系,这意味着他们可以彼此分享更多他们的感受。)”可知,Katie 对网络交流持乐观态度。故选A项。
【7题详解】

It’s cold and dark outside, and your bed is so warm and comfortable. Going for a run seems like such a bad idea. But before you put your running shoes away, it might be worth giving that crazy idea a try.
According to The Huffington Post,an outdoor run in winter, instead of running on a treadmill (跑步机), burns more calories (卡路里) because the body is working hard to regulate (调节) its temperature. Besides, research shows that race times are faster in cold weather than in warmer temperatures—and quicker runs burn more calories. Similarly, cold weather also makes the heart work harder to distribute blood through the body, making that vital muscle even stronger.
Outdoor exercise also turns up your energy and rids you of the stress and depression that build up every day. The heat and humidity in summer can drag you down and tire you faster, but cold weather is refreshing. It adjusts you to your surroundings, making you feel energetic.
Of course, the threat of smog in some built up areas is a further problem to winter exercise. Heart attacks, strokes and lung cancer are all dangers of running in smog. The combination (结合) of air pollution and exercise increases the potential problems. If you do choose to run outside on smoggy days, take a path in a park or residential area to avoid polluted air, and go early in the morning, before rush hour. But staying inside on smoggy days and waiting for the next clear day to run is best.
8. How does cold weather benefit runners compared with warm weather
A. They can run more slowly. B. They can take in more calories.
C. Their hearts can work harder. D. Their body temperature can get lower.
9. How does summer affect runners
A. It makes runners tired easily. B. It builds up their energy quickly.
C. It lessens runners’ stress. D. It causes heart attacks.
10. What are the runners supposed to do on smoggy days
A. Stop driving cars. B. Run late in the morning.
C. Do more exercise. D. Avoid outdoor exercise.
11. Which of the following opinion will be supported by the writer
A. We can refresh ourselves with a winter run.
B. We should go to run in a park everyday.
C. It’s much better to take outdoor exercise in summer.
D. We’d better run on treadmill to reduce stress.
【答案】8. C 9. A 10. D 11. A

【解析】
【导语】本文是说明文。介绍了四条交朋友的建议。
【16题详解】
根据前文“There are some people who are always surrounded by friends, and there are others who are always standing on the outside, looking at the crowd of friends.(有些人总是被朋友包围着,而有些人总是站在外面,看着朋友的人群)”以及后文“Here are four tips that will help.(这里有四条建议可以帮到你)”可知,空处应是过渡句,所以F项“If you are one of the outsiders, it is time to come out of your shell and start making new friends.(如果你是局外人之一,是时候走出你的圈子,开始结交新朋友了)”符合文意,前句“If you are one of the outsiders”承接上文,后句“it is time to come out of your shell and start making new friends.”引出下文,起到过渡作用。故选F项。
【17题详解】
分析设空,位于段首句之后,应是对段首句进一步补充说明。根据前文“Nobody likes a liar.(没有人喜欢说谎者)”可知,C项“In fact, if you aren’t yourself, it isn’t you that others are becoming friends with.(事实上,如果你不是你自己,别人就不会和你成为朋友)”符合文意,是对前文的进一步说明文,并且引出后文“When the time comes that you feel comfortable enough to act like yourself again, you may not be well received, because you are a totally different person.(当你感觉足够舒服,可以再次表现得像你自己的时候,你可能不会受到欢迎,因为你是一个完全不同的人)”构成因果关系。故选C项。
【18题详解】
根据前文“Even if you don’t think that you have a lot of friends, you are likely to know a lot of people. Reach out to get in touch with acquaintances and reconnect with old friends you haven’t seen for a long time. Don’t forget about friends of friends.(即使你不认为你有很多朋友,你也可能认识很多人。和熟人联系,和很久没见的老朋友重新联系。别忘了朋友的朋友)”可知,本段讲述了联系认识的人,开始和他们作朋友,所以A项“You may see some really cool people just by hanging out with your friends and their friends.(只要与你的朋友和他们的朋友出去玩,你可能会看到一些很酷的人)”符合本段主题,讲述联系认识的人的好处。故选A项。
【19题详解】
根据本段小标题“Be open-minded.(思想开放)”可知,本段讲述要有包容的态度,所以G项“Don’t go into a situation with a judgmental attitude which will make you less popular.(不要带着评判的态度进入一个场合,这会让你不那么受欢迎)”符合本段主题,且和后文“Instead, be open to other people’s views, and that will help you meet new friends easier.(相反,对别人的观点持开放态度,这会帮助你更容易结识新朋友)”构成转折关系。故选G项。
【20题详解】
根据前文“For example, if one of your friends calls you in the middle of the night crying, don’t hang up.(例如,如果你的一个朋友半夜打电话给你哭,不要挂断电话)”可知,E项“He calls you because he considers you to be a friend.(他给你打电话是因为他把你当作朋友)”符合本段主题,其中call为同词复现。故选E项。

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写词数应为 150 左右。
Robert and Henry were two friends in the same class. They always played together and went home together. One day Robert and Henry were going home from school, when, on turning a corner, Robert cried out, “A fight! Let’s go and see!”
“No,” said Henry. “Let’s go quietly home and not meddle(干涉) with this quarrel. We have nothing to do with it and may get into trouble. Also our parents are expecting to have lunch with us together at home and I don’t want them to worry about me.”
“You are a coward(胆小鬼), and afraid to go,” said Robert, and he ran off. Henry went straight home, and in the afternoon went to school as usual.
But Robert had told all the boys that Henry was a coward, and they laughed at him a great deal. From then on, they looked down upon Henry and didn’t want to play with him together.
Henry was sad but he wasn’t angry with Robert for his rude behavior, because he learned that true courage was shown most in bearing misunderstanding when it was not deserved, and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he just ignored the other boys’ laughter and continued to go to school and study as well. However, Robert didn’t invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Instead, he had some other boys who also thought Henry was a coward. Every day after school, they didn’t go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had a lot of fun.
A few days later, Robert was bathing with his new friends in the river, and got out of his depth. He struggled, and screamed for help, but in vain. The boys who had called Henry a coward got out of the water as fast as they could, but they did not even try to help him.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Robert was fast sinking.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Thus, Robert’s life was saved.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Robert was fast sinking. It seemed as if Robert would be drowned. Just at the moment, Henry happened to be passing by. Hearing the screams, Henry ran to the riverside, threw off his clothes and jumped into the water without hesitation. He reached Robert just as he was sinking the last time. With great effort, and at the risk of drowning himself, he brought Robert to the shore.
Thus, Robert’s life was saved. Robert and his new friends were ashamed of having called Henry a coward. They realized that Henry had true courage. They said sorry to Henry for their rude behavior and asked for his forgiveness. Henry forgave them happily. He and Robert were friends again and they went home together as usual. From this, Robert learned what true courage was: never be afraid to do good, but always fear to do evil.

C

Animals are natural resources that people have wasted all through our history.
Animals have been killed for their fur and feathers, for food, for sport, or simply because there were in the way. Thousands of kinds of animals have disappeared from the world forever.
Hundreds more are on the danger list today. About 170 kinds in the United States alone are considered in danger. Why should people care Because we need animals. And because once they are gone, there will never be any more.
Animals are more than just beautiful and interesting. They are more than just a source of food. Every animal has its place in the balance of nature. Destroying one kind of animal can create many problems. For example, when farmers killed large numbers of hawks(鹰), the corn and grain they stored would be destroyed by rats and mice. Why Because hawks eat rats and mice. With no hawks to keep down their numbers, the rats and mice multiply(繁殖) quickly.
Luckily, some people are working to help save the animals. Some groups raise money to let people know about the problem. And they try to get the governments to pass laws to protect animals in danger.
Quite a few countries have passed laws. These laws forbid the killing of any animal on the the danger list. Slowly, the number of some animals in danger is growing.
12. Why do people kill animals
A. They kill animals to raise money.
B Animals destroy their natural resources.
C. Animals create many problems.

B. Many kinds of animals have died out.
C. About 170 kinds of animals have disappear forever.
D. All kinds of animals are in danger.
14. Why are animals important to us
A. They give us a source of food. B. They are beautiful and lovely.
C. They keep the balance of nature. D. They give us a lot of pleasure.
15. What can we infer from the last paragraph
A. The number of some animals in danger will increase.
B. Animals in danger will not be killed any more.
C. Every person will know the importance of protecting wild animals.
D. Animals in danger will be kept away from people.

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Robert was fast sinking.
