Every school day, we use schoolbags to carry all of our things to school. They are a big part of our lives. But have you ever thought about the history of the schoolbag
In the Han Dynasty, students in old-style private schools used bamboo boxes to carry books to school. People consider the bamboo boxes to be the earliest schoolbags. There were usually two or three layers (层) in the box. Kids put different things like books, brushes, ink stones and paper in the boxes.
Hundreds of years later, people developed a new kind of schoolbag called the “budai” or the “hip-pocket”. The budai was lighter than the bamboo box. With the founding (成立) of China, military rucksacks (军用帆布包) became popular. Many people carried them when they were in school. Ask your grandparents or parents about these bags. Maybe they can tell you about their experiences of carrying them when they were in school.
A new style of schoolbags has appeared in recent years. Many of them have colorful and fashionable designs on them, such as pictures of cartoons or pop stars. Some students pull wheeled bags filled with heavy textbooks and others carry backpacks because they are more comfortable to use.
Schoolbags are still changing. Can you imagine what future schoolbags will be like

The “59 smiles” on a phone by an old woman in Wuhan, Hubei province in about six months tell a big story. The smiles are from the 59 people who offered her seats on buses. The 69-year-old Wuhan woman has taken photos of the people who offered their seats to her on buses. The 59 photos are good memories for her. Some of the smiles are shy, some friendly, while others are like sunshine.
The old lady is not good at taking photos with her phone, so some of them are of poor quality (质量). However, her photos have become famous immediately (立即) on the Internet.
“The smiles that the old lady has taken show people’s care and love for others, which is becoming valuable in today’s society. Her act also expressed her thanks to those who have helped her.” says Zhang Yongsheng.
Offering one’s seat to elderly people on buses has become a hot topic of discussion. There have been many cases of quarrels (争吵) between young and aged people recently. They could have been avoided if we had thought more about others and also more thankful when others offered help.

When you hear the word “shapeshifting (变身)”, you may think of magic in some movies and not the climate (气候) . But that’s what animals are doing to go on living in the world.
A new study shows that some animals are slowly growing larger beaks (喙), legs and ears. In this way, they can cool themselves down more easily as the Earth gets warmer. When we talk about the climate change, we often ask “What can humans do with this ” “How can we live in the future ” “But we should know that animals also have to face these changes,” said Sara Ryding, from Deakin University, Australia. If animals do nothing to keep their normal body temperature, they will die.
In one example, the beaks of some kinds of Australian parrots (鹦鹉) have grown 4 to 10 percent larger. The study says it has a lot to do with the hotter summer over the years. There are other similar examples. Wood mice have longer tails and bats (蝙蝠) in warm climates have bigger wings.
Although the changes are still small, they could be common as the weather becomes hotter. “Body parts like ears may become bigger, so we might be able to see a real Dumbo (big-eared elephant from a Disney cartoon) in the near future,” Ryding told the reporters.
28.Why do animals grow bigger body parts
A.To become stronger. B.To enjoy a better life.
C.To find food easily. D.To keep normal body temperature.
29.How many animals are mentioned in Paragraph 3
