Talk about school activities and dates. The topic is related to our daily life closely.

Teaching procedure
Step 1： warm up Greetings. Teacher asks students： 1)-How old are you -I’m... 2)-When is your birthday？ -My birthday is on... 3)-Is your birthday on/in...？ -Yes,it is,/ No,it isn’t. 3. Teacher asks one more question： -Did you or your friends have a birthday party before -Yes. -Great! Your parents and your friends must love you very much.
Purpose： to review the expressions and structures and prepare for reading.
Step 2： lead in Watch a video about a school art festival. Ask some questions: ①-Do you like it -Yes. ②-Where is it -School ③-What is it -Sports Day... You are so clever, maybe it’s an art festival or a sports meeting. Do you want to attend this activity
Purpose：to increase their curiosity and prepare for reading.
Step 3： pre-reading 1.(Introduce the background):Teacher had a meeting yesterday, the headmaster asked teachers to ask students’ opinions about which activities they want to have at our school this term： T: We had a meeting yesterday, and our headmaster want to know what activities you want to have at our school this term let’s check. 2.Show the pictures of activities in 2a. Purpose：to study the expressions prepare for reading
Step 4： while-reading (Two days later, the teacher told students the results): T: Here’s the results, a school notice, let’s read it. Students skim the school notice and answer questions： 1)-What do students think of this term Can you find the key words -Yes. It’s interesting and fun. 2)-Is this a busy term？why？ -Yes, it is. Because there are many activities. -What kind of article is it A school notice, a letter or a story -A notice. Students scan the school notice and list the activities and dates in 2b. Students and T check answers by asking and answering questions:

Purpose：to develop students’ skills of scanning, skimming and looking for key words.
Step 5：post-reading Teacher and Ss talk about the questions in 2c and make conversations： -What activities from 2b do you like？ -I like… -Why do you like it -I like it because it is… - What other activities do you like？ - I like… 2.Students are asked to make an invitation card to invite their parents to attend these activities.
Purpose：to make students take part in the school activities positively and learn how to write an invitation card.

Reading skills: Scanning：reading quickly for general ideas Skimming：reading quickly for specific information looking for key words Learn how to write an invitation card. Homework Copy the new words.
